The group burned through their ammunition to reduce the horde, able to complete their mission. The horde began to dwindle, the large number turning to spare change. 

Nick led the group to surround the remaining zombies, gunning them down, with the support of Amanda on the roof. She laid down on the roof, mounting her hunting rifle and unleashing magazines into the horde. She wasn’t able to clear many, but she had longer reach and could deal instant kills with her powerful hunting rifle.

Fortunately, the overall strength of the group had won them another day. They lived to see another day, one full of disposing corpses and repairing the fences. All but the north fence, across from the backdoor, were broken down by the horde. The animals, which were locked up in the barn, escaped the attack without causality. 

Although they survived, most of the crops were trampled on, including Braiden’s small plot. The few zombies that traveled through purposely stomped on his crops before Braiden disposed of them. 

Now they faced a new problem - food scarcity.

Thank you for reading the first season (also known as book one) of this series. Alternative Universe is a passion project that I’ve been trying to revive after the grammar error-filled and a mess of a story project titled Different Universe released in 2017. As the title of the project shows, Alternative Universe is a soft reboot of the novella---Different Universe. 

My intention with this story is to follow the events depicted in the novella and reuse many of its characters and settings, but this soft reboot will slow down the place. Where the novella took one chapter to rest on a setting before moving to the next, Alternative Universe will stretch out the settings and explore the characters and their growth during the apocalypse.

As for people wondering about Percy, he will reappear as a constant threat that appears every once in a while, so be prepared to see that scum again.
