his sandwich. "Michelle says she thinks it was no ordinary gunshot wound. So she's trying to find out for sure." At this Jim shrugged and asked when she would be in to eat."About 10 to 15 minutes," replied Jack starring at his almost empty plate. I guess I didn't realize how fast I was eating. Well, I'll pay for that later.

He thought jokingly.

_______

Thirty minutes passed before Jack started to worry about Michelle.
"I better go see if she's ok."
"Sure thing," said Jim staring at his TV. As Jack neared the plane he thought just how easily it would be to get lost out here. He opened the plane door to find complete silence.
"Hey, is 'Doctor G' in?" he shouted playfully. There was no reply."Hmmm..... maybe she got lost outside," he mumbled to himself. Just as he started to go he noticed a trail of blood that led across the floor and to the door. He started toward the cockpit, but stopped mid-way to find Michelle on the floor."Hey! Michelle, wake up," he said gently slapping her face. I guess I could put her in the snow...that would really wake her up fast. No, that would be too much, plus she'd probably never speak to me again.

"Uggg..." groaned Michelle.
"Well good morning Miss Seener," he teased. Her eyes fluttered open to find a grinning face with a bit of worry in its eyes.
"What?" she asked still dazed.
"Look I knew you were pretty wiped out over our afternoon flight, but I didn't know you were so tired that you'd plop down on a public plane floor," he said jokingly.
"I didn't just plop down," she began rubbing her head.
"Really, you could'a fooled me," he said trying to look innocent. She ignored his sarcasm and said,
"I had just finished examining the captain when I saw a queer hole in the floor. So I went to check it out."
"Naturally."
"As I was looking at it I heard a soft thump behind me and before I could turn to see what it was I felt a splitting pain on the back of my head. And then I blacked out," she said beginning to rub her head again.
"Yeah I'll say! Not even Prince Charming himself could've woken you," he said once more grinning at her.
"Hey,.....where's the Captain?" she said looking around.

Chapter 2

"Well, I doubt he got up and walked away," said Jack.
"Honestly I don't know how you can always be so un-serious in these kind of situations," she commented a little ticked.
"It's a gift," he said staring at her disheveled short auburn hair.
She promptly changed the subject asking,
"But where is the captain? He was right here."
"Hey look at this." exclaimed Jack while crouched over a half a shoe print made from the pilot's blood.
"Well well, looks like Goldie Locks forgot to do the dishes."
"Yeah, I guess that proves somebody came in, knocked me out and then took the captain."
"Sounds like you got the just of it. Whoever it was didn't want anyone to figure out what killed the captain," said Jack standing up and walking toward the cockpit, where the pilot originally was.
"So where's this hole?" he inquired.
"By the pilots seat," she answered.
"Found it. It must have been caused by the weapon used against the captain," said Jack ponderingly. "But if that's the case," said Jack smelling the air, "I smell fuel...."
"It's probably from the tank below," she said still examining the foot print.
"We've gotta go, now!" rushed Jack as he ran towards her.
"Why?!" she exclaimed as he grabbed her arm pushing her out the door.
"Don't talk just run!!" yelled Jack. Then as an answer when they were almost back to base the plane violently exploded.
"That a good enough answer?" said Jack eying the recked plane.
"But, how'd you know?" asked Michelle catching her breath.
"When I smelled the fuel it didn't make sense, after all we did run out remember." he said know facing her.
"Yeah, but-" he cut her off by adding,
"I also remembered when I was flying the plane that there were 4 other tanks of fuel but I thought they were empty. Plus that shoe print seemed a little to careless.
"Well that explains the explosion, but why did it explode?" she asked worried.
"It seems pretty obvious to me; someone really wants us dead."
