each other before rushing to the windows, noticing something strange. The zombies moved away from the house, but they were all moving in the same direction, even the wandering zombies who had no interest in anything joined them. Something wasn’t right and they knew it.

“Alert the others,” Archer muttered. “We got a problem.”

Chapter 41 "Virus X S1 E6 - Pinned"

Archer watched as the zombies moved away from the building and towards an unknown destination in the direction that Blackhawk went in. Rogue, meanwhile, began alerting her comrades about the zombies, telling them to be wary of the sudden change in the zombies’ behaviors.

“You’re on your way back?” Rogue asked Scout.

“Have the backdoor prepped for me, I’m almost there.” He reported.

“Copy,” Rogue remarked before rushing to the back and taking away the barricades, getting the door ready to open and bring in her comrade. She waited by the backdoor, noticing Scout and letting him in before he was noticed by any zombies.

“Thanks,” Scout told Rogue before heading to the dining room table where Dawn remained. He applied two of his fingers on her neck, checking her pulse. It was faint, too weak to consider her to be in good health. “Damn, we need to move fast. She’ll die soon if we can’t stop the bleeding.”

“It won’t stop on its own, right?” Rogue asked.

Scout shook his head. “It’s possible, but with how damaged she is, there’s more of a chance that she’ll die. We need to cut her open and stop the bleeding.” He declared. Rogue nodded, becoming the replacement nurse to his doctor. They began prepping for surgery as Archer watched the front of the property for Blackhawk or to see what was happening with the zombies. He knew something was off but wasn’t entirely sure what.

Did the zombies just suddenly decide to all move at the same time? And in the same direction? No, it couldn’t be a coincidence. There has to be a reason behind this. Is there some sort of hive mind within the zombies? No, that can’t be possible. I’m sure there has to be another reason. Maybe Blackhawk created a lot of noise and attracted them. No, wait, that would be even worse. Is he in trouble? He responded to Rogue and he seemed to be out of breath, but I didn’t hear gunfire. Maybe I’m just overthinking it, but something is really wrong today. He thought to himself before he heard sporadic gunfire, alerting him to Blackhawk’s presence. He dove to the front door, prying the barricades off as Blackhawk neared the building. Behind him was a large flood of zombies. The platoon of zombies now had upgraded into something even larger. It was now a zombie army.

Archer opened the door as Blackhawk arrived, closing and locking it behind him. He then quickly rebuilt the barricades, placing them at the door in time for the army to slam into them. The army’s strength was enough to crack the door, but not blow it off its hinges. However, several more hits and the door would give in.

“We need to move!” Blackhawk instructed them. “Move Dawn to the roof. The door isn’t going to last long!”

Scout and Rogue nodded, moving the surgery tools away from them, which Archer grabbed in their place, and carried Dawn upstairs and onto the roof. They struggled to bring her up, but Archer and Blackhawk assisted them. They laid her gently on the flat rooftop before splitting ways again. Archer and Blackhawk descended into the building and grabbed as many supplies as they could, including any equipment that they left behind, and returned to the rooftop where Scout and Rogue were peering over the edge of the rooftop. The zombie army began ramming at the building, most of them colliding with the front door. Some of them maneuvered their way over to the backdoor, slamming at that entrance and trying to force their way in.

“What do we do now, sir?” Scout asked.

Blackhawk stared at the zombie army that tried to break in and was close to doing so. “... We just have to sit tight. Until they move on. That’s all we could do.”

Scout and the others nodded their head, moving to the middle of the roof. Scout and Rogue began surgery while Archer relaxed near them, resting on his back and staring at the sky and the moving clouds. Blackhawk couldn’t tear his eyes off at what was happening under him. He couldn’t stop staring at it.

2 Hours Later…

The surgery had ended and Scout and Rogue managed to do the best they could and stop the bleeding. They patched her up and left her to rest, covering her with a few recovered blankets from the building. The rooftop was relatively clean, allowing Dawn a quick recovering process. She was no longer in harm.

“What now?” Scout asked Blackhawk who stared at the diminished crowd under him. The zombie army had shuffled their boots away from their building, leaving behind deserters, and headed towards a new target away from them. The deserters remained behind, still attacking the building or wandering around it. They knew that there were survivors inside the building, but they couldn’t get in. The front door had been smashed in, but the makeshift barricade was enough to prevent them from getting too far into the house.

“We begin moving.” He remarked before looking up at the sky. It was now afternoon and the beaming sun hit them harshly. “We need to get Dawn somewhere safe and rest up for the night. Did you see a place we could move to that would be safe for us?”

Scout shook his head. “Most of the houses I passed by were broken into. And I didn’t check too many houses since I found the hospital with ease. We’re just gonna have to test our luck again.”

Blackhawk nodded. “That’s what we been running out of. Now start packing up, we’re leaving this building and relocating.” He ordered his unit who nodded simultaneously. They grabbed all of their belongings before Archer and Blackhawk went down, taking out any zombies that were inside the house before Rogue and Scout followed behind them with Dawn. Blackhawk took point, deconstructing the now loose barrier before moving outside, killing several more zombies before leading the others away.

As they left the area, Scout caught a glance of a strange man loaded with a rifle staring at them with a malicious smile. He stopped, staring at the man. Archer and Rogue passed by him, noticing him.

“What’s wrong Scout? We gotta move?” Rogue whisper-shouted at him. He nodded his head but didn’t budge. He raised his pistol’s iron sights at the man.

The man smiled before he raised the gun into the air and held down the trigger, spraying bullets everywhere. The loud racket of the rifle alerted the zombie army, spinning them around and leading them back.

“Sir?” Scout asked.

Blackhawk glanced at the man as he held down the trigger. He went through the magazine, switching to his next one to everybody’s surprise. “Government pigs! I’ll butcher you!” He shouted before dropping to the ground, going prone and discarding the rifle, before taking out the rifle strapped to his back. He aimed at Scout, about to hold down the trigger but was quickly blasted in the head by Blackhawk.

“Keep moving, they’ll be coming soon.” He ordered them.

“W-Why did he do that?” Rogue asked.

Scout lowered his weapon. “He alerted the horde. He alerted them here. They must be on their way. He just set them on us.”

“How do you know?” Archer asked. “Maybe he was just suicidal.”

Blackhawk shook his head. “He’s right. He must’ve done this for a reason. He wanted to kill us yet he shot at the sky first? He’s alerting his friends or the horde. Let’s move.” He ordered them. They agreed with him, moving alongside him. They headed to the nearest house they could find, being another two-story building that looked very similar to the one that they just had left. Scout barged in, leading the others inside. He then slammed the door behind them, but not until after he peered outside. He heard the growls of the zombies near them who all made their way towards them. The gunfire alerted the zombie horde and they were now being targeted by the deserters who stayed behind.

They were now being pinned.
