“Now.” He muttered, nodding his head. “Drop the tension and flank him.”
She turned back towards the man, scowling at the overconfident man. She lingered for a moment before pushing him back for a brief moment. She then rolled to her left, hearing the man fall to the ground, hitting the grass floor of the barn head-first.
She was on her back, staring up at the ceiling as the Collapsed Man---the guy who fell to the ground---and his partner exchanged curses. The Collapsed Man’s partner raced towards Rachel but was suddenly tripped. He fell to the ground head-first, hitting his chin on the grass harshly. Even so, he quickly recovered and looked around for what or who tripped him. He couldn’t see anybody, thinking, was it the magic-user?
Rachel recovered and noticed the Collapsed Man rising to his feet. She gripped her dagger tightly, jumping on top of the man and stabbing his neck. The Collapsed Man grabbed at his neck, one hand swinging at Rachel to tear her off. However, Rachel kept her grip on the dagger, plunging it deeper into his neck. He let out a loud shriek, clawing at her but to no avail. The wound was deep enough for blood to pour out in gallons, flowing down from his head, staining his clothes.
Within a few seconds, he collapsed again, hitting the ground harshly. He was dead a few moments later, his blood still flowing.
“Behind you!” Mace shouted, tripping the Tripped Man---Collapsed Man’s partner---and watching as he hit the ground again. “Kill him before he rises!
Rachel jumped off Collapsed Man’s corpse, racing towards Tripped Man and plunging her dagger into his neck. He grabbed at her, getting a handful of her hair and trying to rip it out.
She brought the dagger deeper into his neck, ceasing his moments. His eyes remained open, staring deeply at Rachel, which unnerved her.
Mace smiled, standing next to Rachel. “Welcome to your new life.”
Rachel looked up at him, her hair bloodied and dirty and her clothes stained, tilting her head. “Can I truly live a new life?”
“Depends if you want to. You could stay here and starve or you could explore the world and see new sights and new people. You’ll find a new life outside of the barn, but it depends if you want it.”
“I… I want it.” Rachel muttered.
Mace nodded his head. “Then, let me reintroduce myself. I am Mace, your Spirit, a guardian angel of sorts.”
Rachel nodded, not smiling. “I am Rachel, a… Rachel, a free slave.”
