Helping Els to her feet, Judor did not let her go, instead pulling her close. “Are we ready? Are we really sure?”.
“Yeh, let's go”, said Knoah, cutting Judor’s moment short again. He lead the flock of hummers towards the open gate, again Judor wished to batter Knoah.
“When is the last time you flew?”, Els asked Knoah, pulling away from Judor.
“Been a while, but y'kno. Gifted man of every season right here”, smiled Knoah, thumping his chest twice.
Judor span Els to face him. “Are you gonna be okay?”, he said, clearly concerned.
“Don't fuss, I will be fine”, snapped Els.
“Oh yeeeeah, you can't fly. Don't push yourself too hard”, smirked Knoah.
“Shut it”, Els snapped once more, walking over to the kenpion packed with her stuff. Taking in a deep breathe. “It's not I can’t fly, I just don't trust these things, but as future Chieftain I will overcome this issue here and now”.
While Knoah smirked, Judor swooned and Saeko watched closely from between the pair.
Els stopped before her designated ride.
Standing the kenpion was twice the size of Els. It looked down at the twig like frame of her, the hummer could easily crush her like a dry leaf, and would, if she did not approach the pairing correctly. The first thing a new rider must do, is acknowledge the bird. As regal class creatures they have an affinity with intelligent species. However, regal class creatures also have peculiar temperaments. Hummers can kill a rider if they feel the slightest sense of hesitation. Attempting to ride with an unclear mind is suicide. Once bonded, the emotional state of the rider effects the bird critically; fear leads to hate, and love leads to loyalty, it's a simple equation.
Els stood before the kenpion, and looked deep into the lowest pair of its four eyes, an awkward moment passed, then Els bowed hesitantly. In return, the kenpion looked her up and down, glaring at her coldly. Raising its head the bird puffed its chest; the decision was made. The kenpion lowered its body. Uncurling the pair of wings on its left side. The kenpion sent an invitation for Els to mount. As soon as she took the invitation and her place in the saddle, its lime green and dark blue colouring began fluctuating, flitting between all the colours in creation; bonding was in process. As Els settled into the cold leather saddle - suddenly the colours stopped their dance and the bonding was over. Now the kenpion was dyed in a new set of colours, a bright light blue and white palette washed the bird anew.
Judor went next, paying his respects and mounting his bird, it emerged a dark purple and black as their bond was announced. Knoah, having already mounted one bird, also mounts the fourth. Mounting them both is the only way he will be able to get the kenpion stacked with fuel to follow. The signal that he was bonded to them both was obvious, both wore a red and gold plumage. The future gene took off with their four kenpions into the dusk sky, praying they would find Mt. Ohm and promising the lonely Saeko that they would return home soon.
