This is an autobiography of BookRix member, augustus (MICHAEL M. PACHECO), the winner of "The Get Me Published" contest. His book, "Seeking Tierra Santa: Summer Terror in Texas", has been published and we couldn't be more proud.

When my Grandfather Gough enlisted to fight and left his home outport of Elliston, Newfoundland in WW 1, he was a innocent boy.
By the end of WW 1 he was a shattered man, who had lost the main illusions of his life. Yet, he managed to write brave letters from the front; letters that reflected his life and times in such a way that I want what he said to be available for free, for us all - so we may all avoid war in all times forever.
My grandfather never glorified war to me, he warned me against it, told me to avoid fighting for belief; he regretted the killing he did, mourned those he'd shot & bayoneted, and was straight-ahead honest about his life-long opinion that to kill is wrong - period.
I write of his war in other books, in this one it's time to share with the world what he wrote in his period of learning. I ask to remember, as you read them, the time in which he lived, & to consider the falsehoods that were told him in order to have him fight. Those were terrible times of a war that could have been avoided.

Two years ago, I was lost in a pit of despair. I thought that I was a failure, a disgrace. I couldn't believe that anyone could ever love me, nor did I deserve to be loved. I now know that I was suffering from teenage depression.

And this is the diary that came from the depths of sadness.

I want to bring teenage depression into the public eye, so that all the young people that are suffering out there right now know that they're not alone.

Teenage depression is tragically common, and people need to realise that it doesn't just, "blow over".

I may have not been born when it happened but that will not stop me from honoring the men and women. Please take a moment to give your thoughts to everyone that was affected by 911. Be proud to give out. But please note that this book is not my own this book and should not be named owner when this is not my work but I am just here to put everyone's work together and let everyone see it.

Though the historical references in this story are a matter of record, the story is not about the politics of the time. It is about a young girl’s emotional struggle as she tries to hold on to the only life she knew.
