I'm really sorry. I can't believe I listened to that ho. I was wondering if you'd want to give our relationship a try? I'd been wanting you since second grade, and I screwed it up. Can you please forgive me?" I was shocked. "Alex, that was a while ago. Besides, I'm sort of dating Scott George. But we can still be friends." "It's worth it to have you back. I should have listened to you. A good boyfriend always listens. Never ignores." "Can I have your number?" He looked surprised. "I thought you had my number?" "I erased it." "785-853-4123."

"Hey luscious." Scott hugged and kissed me in front of Alex. He looked at him. "Before you get rid of something great, ignore the whore that's preventing you from keeping it." Alex gave him a silent You'd better get off her or I'll kill you look. I ignored him. I wanted Scott. I'd gotten over Alex surprisingly quickly. Guess I didn't like him that much.

Regina had lost a follower. "Whatevs. I am the most beautiful, most perfect, most popular person in this school." she said to herself as she stared at her reflection in her locker. Her long blonde hair had reached her lower back. We all knew she'd cut it this week. Alex glanced at her. "She's definitely the most confident." he said. I secretly hoped she'd lose another soon.

I hoped that this dook wouldn't touch her. I loved Adriana, I truly did. She meant everything to me. Being with her would make me. Being with Regina had broken me. She was the most conceited, selfish, whorish, girl I knew. I knew now that being with Regina for Adriana wasn't smart. Adry had lost friends, a future boyfriend, and her reputation because of me.

I'd told Ryan it was my fault. His words were 'I truly believe you are to blame for this, Scott.' I wanted to see if he did believe me, but I was already late. I'd adopted my mother's last name because my father was an angel. A real one. I took Adry to her next class. She didn't seem to want to go. I knew she didn't. But what choice did we have? The bell was ringing in two minutes. I held her hand until I had to let go. I watched as she walked into math. She hated it, but she was good at it. I went to my class, science. I stared at my teacher, unable to focus on him. I wanted Adriana. Her. Just her.

I stared at the blackboard, wondering if us being together was fate.

I wanted to kiss her. All I wanted was her. Could I trust her with my secrets? I didn’t like it when I was separated from her. I hated myself for what I was going to do later. “Scott,” Regina said, moving towards me. “What do you want?” I noticed she was wearing a red lacy camisole. She hadn’t been wearing that today. Hmm.

“I want you,” she said, tickling my beard. “I want Adriana.” I told her. She glared at me. “You’ve forgotten what I’ve done for you. You will regret this. I will rip her heart apart.” My stomach tightened. What was she planning? What could I do to prevent it? I had to know. My first thought was Chasity, who’s as dumb as a goldfish.

I caught her after class. “What’s Regina planning?” I asked her. “She’s planning to tear Adriana apart and get you by seducing you and telling Adriana you left her for her.” Chasity said. I bit my bottom lip.

I found Adriana as she was turning the corner. “Baby, I have to tell you something. Regina is planning to break us apart. I do know how, but I won’t tell you. It will break your heart.” Her lips parted. Those full, pink, sexy lips. That long dark hair, almost mahogany, but even darker. Almost black. “Babe.” I said. That’s all I could say. Babe. My baby, my love.

She looked down at her shoes, then back at me. I smiled at my girl. “Don’t worry. She’s narcisstic.” I said. She grinned at that one. I felt that my radiance would break through. I quickly controlled it and got it back into my body. That grin. That beautiful smile.

She stopped smiling. “Your eyes are turning red,” she said. Oops. I got my eye color under control and fiddled with an earring. My mother had told me to be careful with my love life. So far, I’d screwed up a bunch. She knew, and she told me to be extra careful in the future. “Girls feel like they are getting their eyebrows tweezed when they think a guy they love has a crush on her friend.” That’s what she’d said.

I leaned forward a bit, hoping to grasp her hand. She pulled her hand up to check her cell phone. I would get that hand next time.

"Omigod!" she cried, putting her hand up to her mouth. "What is it, love?" I asked. "Check this out." she replied, showing me her phone. It was a picture of a mirror. On it was a message written in red marker.

You are not only well done, you are super done, whore. Nothing can beat what I'm going to do to you.

She grabbed me and buried her face in my chest, scared. So scared she was shaking. She grasped my stomach. I held her, inhaling her sweet, spicy scent.

"I'm wondering, who is your father?" Adriana said.

"His name is Hamon." I answered.

"I've never heard of him."

"He is classified as a 'great, honored, beautiful prince in heaven.'"

"Do you ever see him?" she asked.

"I rarely see him." Scott answered, moving my hair out of my face. "I only see him when he comes to Earth, which is not often. I am always anxious to see him again. I do not get along with my mother very well. She does not fully accept the fact that I am different. I suppose that's why I've fallen for you, Adriana. You have been my only supporter." he said.

"Does Regina know?" I asked. He closed his eyes. His lip trembled a little.

"I suspect she does." he answered.

"Shit. We're in trouble then." I told him.

"I know. I wish I could call out to my father and ask his advice, but I do not think he will answer. He only answers questions if he's here. He even answers questions I have asked him months earlier!"

"Wow." was all I could say. He nodded. He suddenly looked up, closing his eyes. "I can feel him speaking to me. He is not happy. He wants to speak with me alone tonight. I will go, Father."

He started tearing up a little bit. "I know, I know...I'm what? You can't be serious. Fine, I suppose I'll go to hell then!"

"What happened?" I asked.

"He told me he didn't want to see me anymore, that he was unhappy with me. I didn't mean to..." he closed his eyes. "I didn't want to upset him, or anyone. I screwed my whole life up." I didn't completely understand, and I told him so. He just smiled at me and told me everything was all right.

I looked into her eyes and studied them. Why did I ruin her reputation? Why am I a selfish bastard? I thought. I wanted to do self-harm to myself, but I couldn't. Not in front of Adriana. I pulled her close to me, just so I didn't have to think about it. All I had to do was think about Adriana, feel her hair, inhale her scent. She buried her head in my chest. I assured her everything was fine, that she could stay with me as long as she wanted to. I knew my mother would understand if I told her Adriana was simply in need of a place to stay because she was...say...a werewolf.

She wasn't, but Mom didn't need to know that. I took her home with me. Mom pulled the door open, cigarette in her hand.

"Who's your friend?" she asked in her New York accent.

"This is Adriana. She needs a place to stay until she can get herself together. Can she stay here?"

"I don't see why not, long as she sleeps in a guest room. No offense to you, sweetheart, but my son's done some things that don't quite go with my organization. Not that I blame him, either. Anyway, room's upstairs. He'll show ya where."

I pulled Adriana inside. Several people passed us. A guy couldn't take his eyes off of my girlfriend. "What kind of organization does your mother run?" she asked. "She runs a homeless and needy shelter, which has become our house. There's a pool in the backyard, and plenty of food, so help yourself. Here's a bedroom. It's right next to mine, so if you need anything, knock on my door. If I can do anything, tell me. I'm-" She cut me off with a kiss.

"I...Adriana...I...I'm not...I'm shocked. I can't say if I..." She looked hurt. She really thought I was going to reject her. I kissed her back.
