ogre. With the last of his strength he lifted himself up and threw himself down into the crevice. The sunlight dissipated and dank darkness overwhelmed his consciousness. Within second Lias fell back into nothingness.

A hidden talent

“Auto restoration in process” echoed a voice throughout Lias’ brain as he gradually opened my eyes. The buzzing of fireflies resonated throughout the darkness and surrounding him were their little stars of light that illuminated the pit he had fallen into.

He examined his torn legs with great caution before putting any weight on them. Some sort of magical rune burned brightly on the surface of his legs and it seemed to be gradually patching up the wound

“So this system allows automatic healing for whatever injuries that don’t kill you, very interesting”.

Lias slowly got himself on his feet wincing in pain as he tried to maintain his balance. With the very little energy he had left, he began to look for a way out of the crevice but it soon became inevitable that there was no exit. Every turn resulted in a dead end.

Lias collapsed in exhaustion. His wounds have recovered but his energy was depleted. He no longer could move any muscles and he slowly began to lose control of my body.

“If only I was blessed with magical powers I could probably get out of this mess”. Thoughts of frustration poured through his head and the inevitable weakness tore his soul to shreds.

“If you keep thinking like that you’ll never become powerful”, a deep voice echoed throughout the cavern.

“who’s there?!” Lias slowly got up and he stared back into the darkness.

“I am the essence of darkness. You are the very first to have discovered me in these caverns.”

“Ok well Mr.Darkness I’m kinda on the brink of death right now so if you could just leave me alone that would be great”. Lias already had an immense load of problems, and the stress was getting to him. If he could just die a painless death all of his problems would be resolved. Or rather no one would be left to solve the problems.

“No boy, that is not the way you should be thinking. You should be fighting for your life!”. The voice boomed as if chastising my view on the situation.

“It’s impossible I looked around and there seems to be no exit. I also don’t have any magic that can help me. I’m too weak…”.

The voice chuckled. “Boy do you honestly think being blessed with magic is the only way to attain power? It is true that magic can grant many people the power they desire but it is not the only path. Think of what you already have and use them to your advantage! Even the very basic of skills can become something great as long as you develop and accept it as your own”.

“Well you can’t develop skills if you don’t have any to begin with” Lias answered in confusion.

“You idiot! I’m talking about your five senses, Sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell.”

“Well everyone is born with that! How are you supposed to become powerful with a natural skill that everyone has”.

The voice sighed in disappointment. “This is why you are so weak! The five sense are something that everyone has, but very few take the time to sharpen them. Those who succeed in mastering every sense achieves near godlike powers. You are at an even more advantage because you are human. Combine your senses with your brain and you can do the unthinkable”.

The voice offered no other advice and echoed off in the distance. Absorbing in the knowledge the had spirit offered, Lias slowly began to analyze the surroundings and his situation. The darkness took out his ability to see but he was still left with four other senses. Lias was amazed at how keen each sense got as one was disabled. He sat for hours concentrating and finally he was able to make out a distant sound of birds chirping. Within minutes Lias was able to navigate my way through the twisted caves.

A burning but welcoming sensation overwhelmed his eyes as he emerged from the caves. The sun’s gentle warmed graced his skin and there was a slight breeze circulating around me. Lias smiled as the nature embraced his body and he slowly hugged it back.
