movie, which I laughed through, I learned that direct sunlight was deadly to them. Amazing what we can glean from films. Therefore, I lifted his light body and propped him up against a tree, away from any direct sunlight, which would be filtering down through the trees  by the morningside of tomorrow. I didn't wish to have a crispy vampire's death on my conscience. Yep, I was a nice guy.

Satisfied with myself, I turned to continue down the road towards home, when I spotted something gleaming near the large stone that had laid him to rest. I bent and picked up a large canine fang. Yep, it's the one that you see around my neck. A real vampire's tooth. So, my friend, what do you think? Is that a story or what?”

At first I didn’t know what to say or what to think. “How do I know if that is a real vampire’s tooth, and not something you bought on E-bay, some crap made in China? And, I’m still not convinced that vampires exist,” I told Sam.

“Where do you think you are at this moment? Did you notice the name of this bar? It’s ‘Syn-O-neg’. That's short for Synthetic O negative...like in blood. Yes, my friend, you are in a club filled with vampires. Gay vampires to be exact.”

I then asked shakily, “Are you one of them?”

“No, but I feel safe here. And that's because of this necklace,” he said, touching it. "You see, there’s a code among them. If you best or kill one of them, you are an untouchable...you are safe for life. And since, my attacker fled, most likely out of shame, he is as good as being dead, making this talisman my protection. And  yours too,  because you are with me.”

We parted ways once we were clear, and miles away from the club. I shook his hand and thanked him for the story and his protection. He just winked and tripped away down the road on his way to nowhere...all the while whistling ‘a happy tune’.

I'm still not sure about all that he said, even about the club. Words can be so convincing at times...especially after a few good drinks.
