my ignorant, childesh idea. I should have not gotten us involved in this so independently."
"No Nan, we both planned it and you know what," She turned to Anna, "We might be the first two teenagers to do something so ignorantly and childishly adventerous." She chcukled and then smiled, but her smile did not match the tears streaming down her graved face and she step forward and hugged Anna tightly. Anna wrapped her arms around her friend and hugged back, hoping somehow she could bring her friend comfort, "It's going to be fine. We will find them, but please Kesiah, I ask that you may stay in your home and keep my brother's pocket knife with you." She bent over and stuck her fingers into the side of her boot to pull out the kinfe. Kesiah took it from Anna's stretched out hand and then asked, "Anna why did you not use these. We could have hurt them and God knows I wanted to grab them by their rugged hair and give them a good yank."
"Oh," Anna blushed, "I was a little scared." They began to walk away from the house. "A little?" Margret teased calmly, "The grip sure was a little one." She teased.
"Yes well, anyone could be as scared having that creepy, oddly sharp edged girl staring directly at them for what seemed like an eternity. I swear, it was as though she was looking into my soul." She spoke, her thoughts of the girl were not matching her words. Anna felt a mysterious longing as she stared into her eyes.
"You suppose they might be ghosts then?"
Anna was silent at first but then finally answered, "I think they are some sort of phantoms. Honestly I do and I don't care how childish I sound saying so, but I truly think they are ghosts."
When they got back to her house they tried to think of some way to tell Anna's parents. They decided that involving the parents would be disasterous and they would definatly get in trouble for it. Anna knew they were going to have to lie for the time being and go back to the bakery tree to meet with what they were sure were ghosts. When everyone arose early that morning, Kale asked where Genevieve was and Kesiah, gripping Anna's knee to compose herself said, "Well, I sent her home. She...was feeling a little uneasy...."
The room was quiet for a moment and then Anna said, "Yeah, poor girl kept crying." After they were done eating breakfast, Clara asked the girls to go fetch some things from the market so Margret and Anna headed down the road, "So what time do you want to meet at the bakery tree?" Anna asked.
"Um, perhaps after supper. Does that sound best?" She placed her hand behind her head and interlocked them to hold up her head as they walked onward. The clouds looked like they were getting closer and thicker with time and the wind seemed to increase in speed. "Maybe we should turn back now," Anna suggested, slowing in her footsteps.
Keisah shrugged as if she'd walked under thunder clouds thousands of times before, "I think we should be alright for now. The thunder hasn't hit and the rain hasn't fallen." Anna glanced at her friend feeling worried that Kesiah lack any sign of fret or fright and it was as though her sister was actually at home right now. When they got to the market, there weren't many people and it was obvious that the storm was going to be a big one. Anna looked around, they bought some fruits and bread and after looking around, decided that it would be even better if they picked out some needles and other tools for the shop.
"Why was that girl staring at you?" Kesiah wondered out loud, looking through some spices. Anna turned to her and gulped, "I don't know and I don't wish to know at the moment." She began to think of the girl and began to feel the hairs on her neck rise as she recalled the whisper of her name. It was faint and soothing, yet the softness was so chilling and empty. Anna thought of the girl's milky eyes, she coudln't have been blind because she was staring directly at Anna and then at the boy and Margret with such precision.
"I don't know. Maybe she thinks I'm beautful," Anna asnwered with a mocking conceit. She smirked as Kesiah barked out with laughter and nudged her arm, "Oh come on Anna, let's be serious."
At this, Anna scoffed, "Pardon? I don't suppose you're saying I'm otherwise."
Kesiah grinned, "Anna, you are beautiful, don't let my laughter offend you. I merely laugh at the thought of her staring at you for that reason."
"Hey, there are jelous people in this world are there not my dear?" She wrinkled her noise and said, "We just have to be nice to those people and pity them."
"No but this girl looked as if she was enticing a ham. Oh, what if she's a vampire and you just happen to have the perfact blood that she's longing for?" Margret said in a serious tone but soon she cracked a smile.
Anna played along, "Dearest! Then if that's the case, I should leave the country and never walk outside my home."
Kesiah shook her head, "Don't worry Anna! I will protect you from those seriously vicious monsters that lurk out in our woods."
"Oh would you? That would be fabulous!" She jumped with joy and the two began to dance to nothing while some people just stared at both looney girls.
There was a thunderous boom in the sky that made them shriek and both dashed toward the road and headed back to her house. As they ran amidst their imagination, Anna could see the raindrops beginning to fall and they were getting soaked instentaneously. Kesiah looked around, "This is wonderful isn't it?"
"Indeed!" Anna murmured, both running out of breath and yet running like wild animals. The freedom they felt was the best thing they could ever feel as teenagers. Now, their hearts were pumping blood and their minds were accelerated and they began to race.
As Anna soon became tired, she slowed slightly and noticed a blurry shadow in the distence of some trees and when she stopped completely to observe the creature, she realized that it was just a piece of black cloth dangling from a branch. Kesiah turned to her, "What is it?" She asked.
Anna stared for a moment and then breathed, "Nothing."
When they got back to the house, everyone was sitting by the fire chatting with some tea and scones. Kesiah plastered a smile on her face and then said, "Well well, good to see not all of us were affected by this tremendous whether." Clara turned in her seat and gave a warm apologetic smile, "Oh, I am terribly sorry. I did not think it would start raining so soon."
Kesiah toughened up immediatly and said, "We were fine we were fine no need to worry about us." She smirked blankly and then grabbed ahold of Anna's left hand, "Come on Anna. We have to go discuss something." Anna gulped but smiled uncomfortably at how cold her friend had become. When they got upstairs, Kesiah didn't say another word. She was silent for a moment, her dark chocolate eyes cast down.
She bit her lower lip and then said in the most faint voice, "I need to go rescue her Anna."
Anna nodded, turning and shutting her door. When she turned back she saw that her friend was an inch or so away and she jumped in her skin with fright, "Oh my!" Anna gasped.
Kesiah smirked, "Anna, you are a good friend. I have always.." She looked like she wanted to cry, but not a tear left her diamond shaped eyes as she placed her hand on Anna's neck and said softly, "I love you."
Anna widened her eyes in shock but remained silent. She heart fluttered strangely and she felt light and woozy. The feeling was odd. She could understand what was happening. Was she now scared? Absolutely.
"No!" Anna argued, "Don't say that. I'm coming with you."
Kesiah grinned ruefully, "Don't be stupid. I don't want to lose my other priority."
Anna's knees began to tremble and she wanted to cry but she too remained tearless.
"Don't be selfish!" Anna hissed, "It's my fault. I should go with you."
Kesiah shook her head, "I shouldn't have let her come. We must have been drunk."
Anna scoffed, "Why should I not go?"
"Anna," She murmured, her hand slid down her friands arm to her hand and she shut her eyes and then both hugged eachother tightly. Kesiah placed her lips against Anna's ear, "Meet me by the bakery tree tonight." She whispered. They stood for a moment, Kesiah reached out for the door knob, Anna's back was against the door and then she chuckled, "Anna," But as life went on Anna looked deep into her eyes and slowly moved away so Margret could leave.
When she shut the door, all became still and very cold and Anna collapsed down to her knees. The pain of the impact was faint. She couldn't believe what was happening. Anna grabbed the knife from her boot and placed it on her knees. She looked at it for a moment and soon began to slowly fall asleep in that same position.
Isolation was the last thing the girl felt and she wanted to cry yet the tears remained hidden away.
Anna was humming to herself as she sat against the window of the sewing room. it was dark and cold. She was sewing two clothes together and then she realized that she was sewing her palm to it. She widened her eyes and gasped, quickly standing to her feet. The two cloths fell to the floor.
All seemed calm until she noticed the girl standing at the corner of the room staring at her. She looked at her, the girl's milky glazed eyes were marvelously stunning against the moonlight coming in from the window. Anna walked to her, "Why are you here?"
The girl pulled away slightly, alarmed, "You let me in." She stated calmly. Anna was quiet for a moment and then replies, "Well, what's your name?"
The girl grabbed Anna's hand and brought it to her lips and kissed it gently, "You are mine." She whispered faintly. Her eyes never changing. Her pale thin face was so bone chilling, and the wide malicious grin that curled back up her mouth that reveal the sharp needle-like teeth that were so bizarre and chilling.
There was pain, Anna looked down at her side to see red. As she
