When the blood was off his sword, he slid it back into his coat and started soundlessly away.
“Wait!” Ayana implored a heartbeat before she could stop herself, and the man did. But she found she had nothing to say to him and felt rather foolish for having done so.
The face half turned to look back at her and damn that moon if it didn’t cast a shadow on his face still. “Thank you for saving me, for rescuing us.” She said presently, he just turned his face front and started away again.
“Won’t my savior at least tell me his name that I may know to whom I owe my life.
To that he stopped and for a moment Ayana thought he would reveal himself to them but instead he just stood there; both hands pocketed. She made a move to go to him but right before their eyes he vanished.
A cloud had come over the moon and it cast some of it’s shadow upon the spot where he stood; he was there, there was the shadow, and then he was gone.
