Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. Chapter 6

Soren walked quickly into the bright hospital, her heels clicking on the polished floor. She walked up to the receptionist’s desk.
“Um, excuse me? I am here to see someone.” Soren swallowed nervously, not liking the look of the receptionist. She had short, clipped hair, sad almond eyes, and her too-red lips were pressed tightly together.
“Yes, who?” The receptionist glanced up at Soren. Soren did not like the way Betty, the receptionists’ voice rasped and almost groaned.
“James Sarn.” Soren stated matter-of-factly.
“He was flown in yesterday…Room 803.”
“Thank you.” Soren walked to the stairs, rolling her eyes at Betty’s muffled groan she thought was a reply.
Soren quickly ran up the stairs, and then found Room 803. What she saw made her gasp. She knocked on the door and the doctor met her. "Doctor..."

Chapter 7

Soren rushed to the doctor, peppering him with questions.
“Will James survive?”
“Yes, ma’am, he will.”
“Can he leave here soon?”
“No, ma’am, not yet. As soon as his injuries heal.”
“May I talk to him?”
“Yes, you may.” The doctor took a step back.
Soren walked up to the bed, were her husband laid, the wires and tubes attached to him making him nearly impossible to see.
“James, it’s me, Soren. What happened baby?” Soren gently squeezed his hand. The doctor sensed that they wanted to be alone, so he and his nurses left the room and shut the door.
“I’m…I’m fine,” James breathed. “Just…just…hurt…how…are…you?”
“I’m a lot better than I was. So, what happened?” Soren managed a weak smile.
“I was…riding in the…Jeep after…the guys and I had taken…out a…small band of…bad guys. One escaped…and killed two of the…guys. He shot me…the rest took him…out. Then, before he…was killed, he…threw a grenade…” James lifted his bandaged hand and touched Soren’s face.
Soren held his hand and just smiled, trying to comfort him.
“I’m glad you’re alive! I got a letter from General Kard saying…saying…well, never mind. You’re here and that’s all that matters.”
“Yes, that’s… all that… matters.”
