Read FICTION books online

Reading books fiction Have you ever thought about what fiction is? Probably, such a question may seem surprising: and so everything is clear. Every person throughout his life has to repeatedly create the works he needs for specific purposes - statements, autobiographies, dictations - using not gypsum or clay, not musical notes, not paints, but just a word. At the same time, almost every person will be very surprised if he is told that he thereby created a work of fiction, which is very different from visual art, music and sculpture making. However, everyone understands that a student's essay or dictation is fundamentally different from novels, short stories, news that are created by professional writers. In the works of professionals there is the most important difference - excogitation. But, oddly enough, in a school literature course, you don’t realize the full power of fiction. “Ha, ha. I hope so. Umm, this part? How hard’s it going to be to put it in?”

“Don’t you have a computer technician or something on your team?”

“I guess so, but they’re back home, y’know. Everything is beamed over daily. We only have the minimum to get by here with us.” Henry began to say before the implied meaning of the question sank in. “Hey! Does that mean you don’t think I can do it?”

“You got it, buddy. No offense.” Leonard smiled to himself, grateful that Henry could not see him. He was remembering the debacle over the Christmas tree lights one year and how he had had to help untangle Henry.

“Uh, I did talk to our electrician. He’s pretty much a genius and keeps everything running. But he said he doesn’t know much about these new fangled computer things.”

“But if I can get you detailed directions, would he be willing to give it a go?” Leonard offered.

“Oh! Okay. He said he’d need a, um, what’s it called? .. y’know, map thingy, like a blueprint.”

“A wiring diagram. Okay. I’ll see what we can do,”

“Great. Thanks.”

“Looks like they’ve got an electronic manual,” Leonard was saying as he tapped away at the keyboard. “Uh, oh, um, d**n! not of the replacement part yet. I’ll message them, they should still be on line. It’ll take another while.”

“Yeah, that’s okay. You know my status.”

“Yep. Sure glad I’m not with you this time.”

“Hey, it’s good. Really. I love the work. The hands on and everything, y’know?”

“Okay, success,” Leonard announced jubilantly after a few minutes of chat.

“Something?”

“Yeah! They’ve got a fact sheet on the replacement. Took some convincing but due to your situation, they’ve emailed it to you.”

“But Leo, mate,” Henry sighed and took a deep breath. “My computer isn’t working!”

With a moan, Leo planted his forehead into the open palm of his free hand. Imprint
