âIâve gained a couple of pounds.â She said softly, although all the wolves could hear. He raised a brow and tugged her down onto his lap gently, she sat gingerly and kept her legs squeezed close, keeping denim against denim.
âWould you lighten up? I carried you up four flights of stairs when you were three months, I think I can handle you sitting onto my lap at a couple of weeks.â He grumbled, spreading her legs open slightly with his hand. She sighed and slumped back against him, nestling on her side into his chest.
âIâm sorry.â Valerie averted her eyes before things got all mushy. Her eyes caught on Sammy and Mark, their friendship lighting up the dark ambiance of the place as they joked around and laughed. Mark sat and Sammy sat on his lap sideways, showing the world or anyone who would happen to look upon them that the relationship they shared was strictly friendly. Her eyes darted to Jake who didnât seem to see that. He stood under one of the dull lights set about randomly on the ceilings of the bar and he looked feral under it. She was sure if he wasnât afraid of hurting innocent people he would shift right then. But he didnât, he merely slammed himself down into the chair, grabbed his âmateâ and shoved her on his lap. Kenna humphed and crossed her leg seductively, throwing Sammy a victorious look then pouting when she realized Sammy wasnât even look-
âDo you always just watch people like that?â John asked leaning down to whisper to her. She shivered and groaned. She moved away from him and st on the only table left with two chairs.
âOh no, no sweet pea. Not happening.â He said, grabbing her around her waist and pulling her against his body. She thought about shrieking, or yelling, or stabbing him in his fucking eye⊠but she didnât want that kind of attention⊠or mess.
He inhaled the smell of her hair, that wonderful mix of cherry blossom and lavender. It made his wolf howl loudly in his brain and make him want to throw her over the table and fuck her until they both couldnât stand⊠but heâd have to wait until she quit being mad at him. Whenever the hell that was. The place they were in was nice, it had the feel of a club but with the look of a karaoke bar. He took a sip from his drink and let the sting calm his wolf down. His mate was talking to Molly animatedly, gesturing with her hands. He didnât mind, it made her body jiggle, and that jiggle was directed to exactly where his frustrations were. She knew what she was doing, knew that she was making him harder than stone. The question became⊠did she care? The way she gyrated her hips, then laughed with Molly and the other girls proved she didnât. A person went up to the stage, a guy probably in his twenties, laughing and blushing up a storm.
âHi, Iâm Tanner and this is to my super pissed off girl friend who wonât talk to me until I singâŠâ he pulled unraveled a piece of paper that had been folded up in his hand then chuckled âsheâs not gonna talk to me until I sing âLike a Virginâ.â His cheeks blazed as everyone laughed. The spotlight dimmed and he chuckled. His mates back suddenly went straight and he sat up immediately, careful to wrap his arm around her so she didnât fall.
âWhatâs the matter?â HE whispered in her ear, she turned to him with a smile on her beautiful pink lips. For some reason that smile didnât sit right with him.
âYou, my wonderful splendid mate, are gonna sing me a song.â He smiled a feral smile at her and shrugged one shoulder.
âYou act as if I canât sing. All wolves can.â She nodded, that smile growing brighter with every second.
âYeah, I know.â She said softly then pressed her lips to his, slowly she moved hers against him letting him taste her and feel every contour of her mouth.
âBut youâre gonna sing with the other guys, ok?â She had broken off her lips from his and he blindly nodded just wanting her back where he was. She obliged and let her hands roam his chest while she kissed him, rotating her hips slowly. He whimpered and brought her closer to him.
âYouâre gonna sing âI kissed a girlâ, ok?â He nodded, not caring about the words that came from her mouth, as long as it was on his he was fine. She kissed him again but quickly, then stood up.
âOk, câmon girls, letâs go see if they have it.â She said really chipper and then, with the accompanying of Molly and Sarah, skipped off.
âWhat the fuck just happened?â He asked, looking to Tom and Drew who both wore looks of bewilderment.
âThis is exactly why I told you mom and Sarah cannot be together in the same environment for too long.â Sammy mumbled, fixing her ponytail. He looked to see Mark and Jake hadnât gone up.
âWhy arenât you two up there?â
âBecause we arenât stupid enough to piss off Molly and Sarah, and then expect for there not to be any consequences.â Mark said simply, then shrugged as he looked to John.
âYour fey is just pissed at you⊠you were just a casualty.â He said with a smirk and a shrug, then looked to Sammy as she stood.
âIâm gonna get a drink, want one?â She asked as she pinned her hair up, revealing her shoulder.
âOr I could just come with you.â He shrugged, grabbed her hand and then walked to the bar with her laughing behind him. His hearing heard a grinding and he looked to the sound. Jakes eyes was glowing as he watched Mark and Sammy walk with each other.
âEyes might see.â He said to Thomas, who looked to where Jake sat then quickly stood and walked to him.
âHow âbout you calm down a little bit?â Kenna looked back then smirked up at Thomas.
âHe doesnât have to do anything he doesnât want to.â She said acidly, that stupid little smirk widening as the scent of Thomasâ anger flared through the place. Molly stormed past him and to where Thomas stood, she pushed him out of the way and bent down to level with Kenna.
âI donât like you. I want you to know this. I donât like you and, honestly canât wait until youâre out of my territory. Counting down the hours. Iâve been tolerating you, but I wonât tolerate you angering my mate or your⊠mate, causing a scene we donât need right now. So itâs either he calms the fuck down and stands up like a man, or this gets ugly really quickly.â Molly said nicely, keeping a light smile on her face. Fear sparked in Kenna and everyone smelled it, including Molly and her smile grew.
âSo we understand each other? Good, now keep your little mouth closed and we can all have a fun night.â She stood, threw one look to Jake whose eyes had returned to their regular black, then walked away.
âThank god Sarah didnât notice⊠things wouldâve gotten ugly.â Drew said, relieving tension. Thomas looked at Jake who looked up at him reluctantly. They shared a minute of staring at each other before he sat down stiffly.
âSo far this night has been fun.â He mumbled and scratched the back of his head as Sammy and Mark came back laughing and cracking jokes with their drinks in hand. Jake didnât even look in that direction.
His wolf had brought him here, he didnât know why and just wanted to go back to bed. He looked around and sniffed. Something smelled⊠off here. He stood to his full height, stretching a little, and sniffed again. The smell was a mixture of sadness, fear, and despair. But it shouldnât be here. His ears picked up on a sound and he looked up. Lunaâs room. He climbed the tree closest to her window and leaped from the tree to the window. He landed softly and looked around, the smell was strongest here. A whimpering sound brought his eyes to her bed. Her hair was sticking to her forehead, due to the sweat. Her eyes were squeezed together and her fists were balled under her chin. His brow furrowed and he stepped closer, his hand raised. She sat up breathing heavy, her eyes glowing amber. She looked around, her eyes landed on him and she licked her lips and swallowed.
âWhat are you doing here?â Her voice was low and hoarse, scared.
âMy wolf brought me⊠are you okay Luna?â He took another step forward, another two he would bump into her bed.
âIâm fine. That⊠doesnât happen normally.â Her voice was shaky, he didnât need his nose to tell him it was a lie. He nodded slowly and backed away.
âWell, Iâll just-â
âNo, wait.â The pleading in her voice stopped him, he turned to look back at her masking the confusion.
âCould you⊠could you just stay, for a minute?â She asked, her voice wavering as her lip quivered.
âLuna, are you sure youâre-â
She sobbed, putting her head in hands. Her body shook with the ferocity of them and his heart broke. He sped to her bed and sat next to her, wrapping his arm around her shoulder. She turned into him and cried into his shoulder.
âThe dreams⊠they just keep coming!!â Her sob was muffled but he still heard it. He rubbed her arm and kissed her dampened hair.
âItâs okay, itâs all gonna be fine. Iâm here now, nothing can hurt you.â He whispered softly in her hair. Slowly the sobs quieted and her body relaxed, she was asleep. He laid her down, not counting on her gripping his shirt and her green eyes popping open.
âWhat are you doing?â She whimpered softly, her eyes filling with tears.
âWell, you were asleep and I was gonna head back home.â He said, trying to take her fists off.
âNo, p-please donât leave me.â She whispered, curling against his body and leaving him with no choice but to lay down beside her.
Chapter 35She sat in her chair, her legs crossed and laughter rolling out of her belly in thick waves. She and the girls couldnât quit laughing. She didnât know what Thomas or Drew did to deserve the public torment, but sheâd say that John deserved it. He winked as he sung his part, and gyrated his hips. He did any and all things sexual, as did the other guys, while they sang. The whole karaoke place was in a laughing fit but the guys could care less. They performed for their mate in the hopes that later on their mates would perform for them. When the song was over she stood and waited for her mate to come. He jogged to her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
âAm I forgiven now?â He asked sweetly, blinking those big black eyes.
âSo forgiven I canât even remember why I was mad at you.â She said lowly, pressing her lips
