my father tells me often "Although now you are too young and you don't have enough experience yet, it will come a day that you will understand how hard life can be. And just then you will understand all our tries to make you and your brother two better people", so I will not judge if you really can't understand me.
Now I have to say "goodbye, my friend" because I am tired and I need to go to sleep.

Chapter 4

Sunday , 17th March 1912-15 days to go

Dear Diary,

Today there was the Goodbye Ceremony: I talked about it last time I wrote to you. As I predicted it was boring but extremely elegant. I watched every person who came, doing the same exact thing: first the men shaking the hand with my dad and doing a hand-kiss with my mum, and then their partner would be hand-kissed by my father and would kiss my mum in the chicks; then they would come to me and the men would shake my hairs or saying: “hello, little killer”. Everything with the fakest smile in their face!

The only good thing about the party was that the women were pretty, all doll up in their fancy and colorful dresses, all of them dripping with ice. I could watch them dancing with their partners or gossiping about some word.

My parents at a certain point wanted me to dance to with a son of some crack in finance, I think he is the owner of a bank but I am not sure because I don’t really remember. The name of the boy was Edward and he was fairly nice compared to some other classy kids who were at the event. We both didn’t know how to dance very well although he was slightly better since it wasn't his first dance as it was for me. But that was a good thing because he was able to lead me. However later that evening my father promised me that he would find some teacher in dancing by the time we will be in New York, so I will learn the art of dancing. He believes that in two or three weeks I will be a ballerina but I don’t really agree with him, I am simply not into dance that much.

At 10 that night, my parents send finally everybody home and I hustle to bed because I was really exhausted.

But I first wanted to share my day with you and now I will probably faint, if I don’t get some sleep.

I’ll write you soon.
