Classic UK detective story with an "Antiques" background

When you're a brilliant detective who solves a new murder every week, at some point you have to wonder: where does all that murder come from? Maybe you're better off not knowing.

This story is an entry into the Let's Solve a Mystery Challenge. It focuses on Eddie Reynolds, who is called to solve the crime of the dead newlyweds, but other characters from the list appear as well.

A man wakes up in a hospital room handcuffed to a bed. He does not remember anything or that he was in some sort of accident.

Edward Denbre had grown up in foster homes. As he grew and matured he had one desire, to be wealthy. knowing that his only assets was his keen mind and handsome looks he decided to become a con artist. He saw  older rich widowed women as easy targets

On the late afternoon of Sunday, May 16,c 1926, Roger Fleming a potato farmer in Essex, near Chelmsford, England heard someone knock on his door he went and opened it. He was found dead by one of his workers.

 The famous Brtish criminologist, Doctor Alistair Basham is summoned to the town of Hesterton by his wife who working with university archeologists uncovers the bodies of seven newborn babies in a place called Rose Bog.
