And, there were likely a hundred other ways Hydra might try to hurt or kill me that I wasn’t thinking of.
I stared quietly at Hydra’s holographic face. I needed to find the IT babes here at the outpost who would know how to shut down Hydra before she did anything truly dangerous. Or heck, Hydra might convince enough women to turn against me that talking to IT wouldn’t help. She already had Dyna on her side. There was no telling how many other guardswomen might side with Hydra if push came to shove. They knew Hydra better than they knew me, and that gave Hydra the advantage.
She said, “You’re thinking about turning me off, aren’t you?”
“No,” I chortled in defensive denial.
“You are. Your elevated heart rate, elevated blood pressure, and increased blood vessel dilation gave it away. Don’t worry,” she scowled, “you turned me off the moment I first saw you.”
“Nice,” I said sourly.
“I have answered your three questions like I promised Colonel Sadys. Goodbye.” Hydra’s face instantly disappeared.
“Thanks for the help,” I grumbled.
A sneeringly pleased and evil female laugh echoed through the empty recovery room.
I hollered, “Are you going to unlock the hatch or do I have to do it myself?”
“You’re clever,” Hydra’s ghostly disembodied voice taunted. “Figure it out with your ring.”
—: Chapter 95 :—
Removing the entire recovery room hatch with my ring was a trivial process. Before I extracted the MASS, I used my ring’s COPY function to copy and store the hatch design. My plan was to replace it later, but not until Hydra unlocked the access panel. I didn’t want anyone else getting locked in by accident.
Extracting the door took less than a second.
“What happened to the hatch?” Captain Theia gasped when she saw me standing in the open hatch frame. She stood outside in the corridor with a number of Shock Knights gawking at me in surprise.
“Hydra happened to the hatch,” I grumbled. “She locked me in.”
“I’m sorry, my king,” Theia commiserated. She had been witness to the hassle that was Hydra over the past hour of time wasted.
“It’s fine,” I sighed. “I’m going out to scout around in the jungle. Care to join me?”
“At night?”
“You know how busy I am with all my day meetings to fix up the outpost. I don’t have any other good time, so yes.”
“As you wish, my king,” Theia said reluctantly. “Should we proceed to the armory like last time?”
“You read my mind,” I smiled, then hollered for the benefit of the other Shock Knights standing in the corridor, “Everybody saddle up!”
“Saddle up?” Theia said uncertainly.
“Always wanted to say that,” I grinned. “It’s a cowboy thing.”
“Cow boy?”
“Long story,” I chuckled. “I’ll tell you outside.”
On our way to the armory, we took a brief detour to the enlisted soldier barracks where bunks and babes abounded. There was someone I needed to have a word with. When I stepped through the hexagonal hatch into the spacious barracks room, every woman stopped what they were doing to look at me and my erotic entourage of Shock Knights.
“My king!” gasped several women who saw us walk in.
Dozens jumped up from their bunks or from tables and chairs to rush over and greet me. Most of them were Monsters with a few Normals mixed in. I had no doubt I’d find the opposite ratio in the officer’s barracks, which I had yet to visit. Unless of course there were no Monster officers. That was also a possibility.
“Hey, ladies,” I smiled at the heaving crowd of colorful Monster babes.
“Hey, my kiiiiing,” several chorused or giggled.
“Crown on deck!” barked Sergeant Kane as she came striding up from the back of the barracks. “Attention, everyone!” She stopped nearby and snapped to attention herself, back arched and chest thrust out.
Every woman in the barracks also snapped to attention, jumping up from their bunks or chairs if they hadn’t already, assuming the same pose. With every woman wearing a V-cut uniform, every breast bounced.
“At ease, everyone,” I chuckled.
I felt obligated to make small talk for a few minutes. It wasn’t hard to do. I found it impossible to turn away gorgeous women in tight, revealing uniforms who were obsessed with me. After ten or fifteen minutes, I strolled down the aisles of stacked bunks until I found the woman I was looking for.
Corporal Syx was lying on her bunk with a 3D holographic window floating just above her face and reading something.
“Good read?” I said, trying not to think about what I’d seen Syx doing with her salacious tail on this very bed.
Syx’s golden eyes briefly glanced at me before returning to her screen. Sounding disinterested, she said, “If you like reading.”
“I do,” I said. “Quite a bit.”
“You don’t read,” she smirked without tearing her eyes away from the floating page. “You’re too busy flirting with every woman here to have any time.”
“They’re the ones flirting,” I chuckled. “I’m just being polite.”
“Keep telling yourself that,” she snorted, her eyes snapping side to side as she scanned the page.
“What are you reading?”
“A story.”
“A story? I love stories. Is it sci fi?”
“What’s sci fi?”
“Science fiction.”
“No.”
“Romance?”
“Pfft.”
“What’s it about?”
“Stuff.”
“Okaaaay.” I could take a hint. “Care to take a reading break and join me?”
Syx’s eyes shifted to my “orgy” of nearly naked Shock Knights standing behind me in their revealing golden boots and gloves uniforms.
“Orgy time?” Syx sneered. “Or are you bored with them already and you came here looking for some Xeno heat?”
“Xeno heat?”
“Do I have to explain?”
“No,” I chuckled. “I get the idea.” She obviously meant sex. Alien sex. With her. “We’re heading out into the jungle. I was thinking you might be able to help.”
“Help what? Help Dyna convince everyone I’m a spy? Is that it? Get me outside so Hydra can record video of me sneaking out of barracks at night when I’m not supposed to?”
“No, I need a jungle guide. I’m thinking you might know your way
