to him as if I was an offering.

I knew what was going to happen.

Even back then, he couldn’t control himself. He was sadistic, evil, and nothing I did would ever stop him. He had me once, but I got away. Now, I couldn’t run. I was helpless. I knew my father wouldn’t help me. He was just as bad. But this man, the one in my nightmares, scared me more.

He pushed a finger into me and grimaced because I wasn’t aroused. Spitting on my pussy, he tried again only to get angrier.

“You bitch. I’ve waited for this fucking day for years, and you can’t even be excited for me!” he shouted, slapping me across the face. I wanted to cry, to beg him to stop, but I could do nothing but lay there. I was entirely at his mercy, and he was about to seek revenge for something I had no control over.

He sat up, undid his pants, quickly removing them and his underwear down to his ankles. He pulled off his shirt and threw it on the floor. His cock was standing out, long and hard. He admired it, standing erect above me, as he stroked it vigorously.

He laid on top of me, my left leg stretched out over the side of the bed, my right leg bent and pushed against the side. His cock rubbed against my clit. His naked chest pressed against my breasts. He nibbled on my neck, kissing me as his hips moved between my thighs. He reached down, grabbed his penis, and rubbed the head against my pussy, and guided it into me.

The moment I felt him, I went away.

Anywhere, just as long as I didn’t have to be in the same room with him. I dreamed of myself on the beach, watching the waves as they plowed into the sand. Seagulls flew over, squawking at something up ahead. Kids laughed all around me as they played carefreely and happily. Parents smiled, took pictures, and hugged their kids as if they were the most precious thing to them.

I dreamed I was holding hands with a man, who smiled and kissed my cheek. He was happy as I was, watching all the kids laugh and play. We watched a little girl with blonde pigtails run ahead of us, giggling as she waddled forward, shrieking at every new find she found as if it were Aladdin’s lost treasure. She was adorable, with her rosy cheeks and chubby face. Happy loved and adored as all children should be.

When she started to cry, the man holding my hand rushed over to her, picked her up, and kissed her cheek. He walked back over to me as the little girl held her arms out for me to hold her. I did so instantly. She was love, goodness, all the joy in the world I never had.

I never wanted to leave this place.

I watched the handsome man and the adorable little girl for the rest of the day, often smiling when they waved to me as they played in the warm water. The man was gentle with her, never letting her head dip below the water. Always holding tight to her as if she were as precious as I believed her to be.

Leaning back on the warm sand, I rubbed my tiny swollen belly as a flutter moved within me, making me grin. I was happy. I was loved. I was safe. Everything I ever needed was with me at that very moment, and I never wanted to leave.

Something stung my face.

Turning, I saw the bad man running towards me. Getting to my feet, I ran as fast as I could. The handsome man shouted after me, yelling my name.

Another sting and I was back in reality, as he thrust once more and stilled above me.

It was then that my voice croaked, and I screamed.

I repeatedly screamed as warm hands shook me.

“Remi! Wake up baby. Wake up! Come on, sweetheart, open your pretty eyes for me. Please,” I heard Max beg as I tried desperately to do what he asked.

When I was finally able to open my eyes, I found myself in the same room as before, only this time I was in Max’s arms, and he was shirtless. I could feel his warm skin under my fingers as he radiated strength and compassion. It was different than before. He was no longer the teenage boy, and I wasn’t a young girl anymore. He was a man, and even though I acted like a child sometimes, I was definitely a woman.

I was safe.

I was in Max’s arms.

Rubbing my back, Max whispered, “God, baby, you scared the shit out of me.”

“I’m sorry.”

“What for?” Max asked, looking at me. “For having a nightmare? Baby, I get them all the time. Don’t be sorry for something you have no control over.”

“I’m so happy I found you Max.”

“Me too Remi. I missed you,” he replied as a soft knock at the door interrupted us. The door opened, and there stood one of the tallest men I’d ever seen. If I thought Uncle Peter was big, this man was a giant. Close to seven feet tall and tattooed from head to toe, this man was a beast.

“Sorry to interrupt Reaper, but this couldn’t wait.”

“What is it, Savage?”

“Player has that techie chick on the phone, and she needs to know if the name James Granite means anything to Remi?”

Max looked at me and waited.

I pondered the name, but nothing came to mind. “Sorry, I don’t know him. Who is he?”

“No one particular Remi. Player is just following up on a lead. Also, he wanted me to ask if you’d ever been to San Francisco?”

“Yes, I have,” I replied, grinning. “I loved it there. The trolleys were my favorite.”

Savage grinned, and Max chuckled.

“What?”

“The trolleys are my favorite too,” Savage blushed.

“Really!” I grinned happily. “I love when they go up and down the big hills, and the trolley guy rings the bell. He let me ring it once.
