of what were clearly underground corridors. We turned several more times before arriving at the armory.

“My king!” saluted the two beautiful guardswomen standing outside the hexagonal armory hatch. Both women wore power armor — helmets retracted — and snapped to attention the second they saw me and my entourage turn the corner.

“Open for the king,” one of them said, apparently over comms, because the heavily armored hexagonal hatch behind her slid into the wall on its own.

I tipped them a nod on my way into the two-stage lock that had a second thick hatch at the end. It was already opening. I felt like I was walking into a bank vault.

The inside of the armory was a huge, brightly lit hexagonal room.

“Holy shit,” I chortled under my breath.

It was an explosion of weapons.

Armory porn par excellence.

Along the walls, carefully aligned rifles were crammed together like books on two levels of shelves, butts down, barrels up. In some locations, a few rifles were hung side-out to show what weapons were stored in a given section of shelves. In the center of the room were more free-standing shelves with rifles and pistols racked on both sides, long rifles on the bottom, shorter weapons on the top.

There were thousands of guns in here.

Thousands.

Every weapon was futuristic, strange, yet somehow strangely familiar, and every single one looked incredibly deadly.

“Any suggestions?” I chuckled.

Captain Theia said, “Kurkullan ABR-17.”

“Kurkullan is a name I know. They’re weapons manufacturers, right?”

“Correct, my king,” Theia smiled.

I asked, “What does ABR stand for?”

“Automatic Bolt Rifle.”

“That’ll work. Or wait,” I grinned. “Can I get a Gatling gun?”

“Begging your pardon, my king, I’m not familiar with that weapon.”

“A spinning gun that shoots really fast.” In my experience, talking mechanical engineering to women — outside of a very narrow subset of highly knowledgable and technically-minded women, or the rare woman who was a mechanical engineer — was like speaking a foreign language to someone not interested in learning yours.

“Spinning, my king?” Theia frowned.

“Yeah, spinning.” This was usually where a woman as gorgeous as Theia changed the subject to makeup, clothes, shoes, flower arrangements, or interior decorating.

She said, “Perhaps if you were more specific, my king?”

On a whim, I went technical on her and said, “A rotary machine gun with a barrel cluster that has individual bolts for each barrel. An electric motor spins the cluster around at high speeds, a delinker-feeder assembly strips ammunition out of a belt and inserts it into the rotary bolt assembly, and a cam system triggers each bolt’s firing pin as the barrel cluster spins. Rate of fire is several thousand rounds per minute.”

Theia nodded thoughtfully. This was the moment were you would expect a supermodel like her to giggle dumbly and say, “Big words are hard!” Instead she said, “That sounds similar to what we call a rolling gun, or a roller. They’re quite large, and usually they’re mounted on battle rigs, my king. There is one portable version I’ve seen used for military ground applications, the 8mm Kurkullan RG6 Liberator. RG stands for Rolling Gun. But the Liberator is big and heavy. It greatly reduces mobility. Out in a jungle environment like we have on Zalaxia, I suggest you avoid it. If we were defending our base, it would be a different story.”

Now it was my turn to giggle and say big words are hard, because Theia’s beauty and near-nudity made it nearly impossible for me to focus on what she had said. That was what happened when a knockout-hot model was standing effectively naked less than an arm’s length away while talking armament porn. My eyes were constantly darting down to take in her nipples and navel. I couldn’t see any lower than that because of the angle, but I was trying. And I had been listening just enough to realize she had basically schooled me in the art of tactical armament selection.

Impressed, I smirked, “I’ll stick with the Kurkullan ABR. What model was it again?”

“Seventeen,” she smiled.

“ABR-17 it is,” I smiled.

“Unless you plan on going big?”

“How do you mean?”

“Like you did when you defeated the previous king.”

“Oh, you mean go Mega Beast big?”

Theia clearly wasn’t familiar with the term.

Chuckling, I said, “That’s what I call it when I mass up.” In practice, my size at Mega Beast could easily be 3 meters tall and 500 kg or double that, or triple. It all depended on how much ring energy I put into it. Either way, more than big enough to walk around carrying 70 or 80 kg’s worth of M134 minigun and a few thousand rounds of ammo like the US Military mounted on everything from helicopters to Hummers. Or in this case, the Kurkullan Liberator that Theia had mentioned.

She nodded, “If you’re that big, my king, the RG6 won’t be too heavy for you.”

As much as I got giddy over the idea of playing the part of Jesse “The Body” Ventura’s character Blaine in the original Predator movie, I was confident my rings were not charged up enough to sustain Mega Beast sizes for more than a few minutes. Lugging around the extra weight would be a major hinderance. I said, “I’ll stick with the ABR-17.”

“A wise choice, my king,” Theia nodded.

“Good thing you’re here. Can you point me to an ABR?”

“I would be honored to, my king.”

At that point, Theia and every Shock Knight deployed golden power armor from their rings. With their feminine assets now covered, I could finally focus on arming up.

For the next fifteen minutes, Captain Theia and her Shock Knights selected a variety of weapons from the armory shelves. Because they were energy weapons, ammunition came in the form of PEPs — Portable Energy Packs. Theia explained the PEPs were generally universal.

“How generally?” I asked.

She answered, “The small size fits all pistols, a second medium size fits all rifles, and a third larger size fits all varieties of power armor.”

“There’s more than one type of power armor?” I asked hopefully.

“There are several combat varieties and several utility varieties.”

“I can’t wait
