“What have you been smoking?” Sirius snorted. “That is the stupidest story I’ve ever heard! Dragons don’t talk!”
“This one did,” I grimaced.
Oia and Venus were exchanging a series of looks.
“What?” I asked. “Do dragons not talk?”
Venus offered an uncomfortable smile.
Oia scowled.
“They don’t?” I said.
Sirius sighed, “How many times do I have to say it?”
“This one talked,” I snarled and shot to my feet. “It almost killed me. You weren’t there. None of you were. If you don’t want to believe me, fine. Fuck you all and fuck your fucking rings and your fucking throne and fucking Zalaxia!” I tried to slide my Bombshells Ring off my finger but it wouldn’t budge. I groaned, “Do I have to deactivate this fucking thing?” If I could get my rings off, I was throwing them both on the floor and marching the hell out of here. But they wouldn’t come off, stopping my tantrum in its tracks. “Stupid ring,” I grumbled, yanking on it to no avail.
“I believe you,” Cygna said.
“You do?” I said hopefully.
“Yes.”
Sirius said, “Go to sleep, Cyg. Your pain meds are making you hallucinate.”
“No,” Cygna said. “Some dragons can talk. I know.”
“What?!” Sirius laughed.
“They can,” Cygna insisted.
“Are you sure, Cyg?”
“Yes, Seer. I’m sure.”
“Thank you,” I said, sounding only slightly self righteous. I sat back down on the chair between Oia and Venus.
Oia said, “What are you talking about, Cygna?”
“There are dragons in this universe that talk. Maybe there’s one living here on Zalaxia.”
“There definitely is,” I said rhetorically and folded my arms across my chest. “And it kicked my ass before warning me to leave or die. There. Now you know everything. I can’t stay here. So… I guess this is goodbye. Unless you ladies want to come with me back to Earth?”
Visions of the Bombshells snuggling up to me in my own bed, in my own bedroom, in my own apartment back in Los Angeles after an all night five-way swam through my mind in a sexual haze of erotic fulfillment. I couldn’t help but smile. I smiled even bigger when I imagined showing off the Bombshells to my buddies at Rolbotics. Their jaws would hit the floor. Ka-Clank!
“Not gonna happen,” Sirius said from her future-tech hospital bed.
I gave Oia a hopeful look.
“We can’t leave Zalaxia,” Oia said compassionately. “We worked too hard to get you here, Tim. We risked our lives for yours. We need you here. Not someone else. You. And we need you here on Zalaxia. Not your home planet. Here.”
“Yeah,” I sighed, disappointed. “I figured.” I also realized Oia thought saving Zalaxia was more important than saving our relationship or keeping me alive. It was a bitter pill to swallow, but I wasn’t so selfish to think I was more important than an entire planet. If she wanted to stay here, fine. But nobody was forcing me to stay.
“Even if we did go with you, my king,” Venus said, “Baron Crewd would send his pirates for us.”
“Why?” I said. “I’d leave my rings here. They wouldn’t have any reason to come after us.”
“Not after what you’ve done to him,” Venus said gravely. “The baron is notoriously vengeful.”
That didn’t sound good.
Oia said, “We can’t leave, Tim. Our place is here on Zalaxia.”
“I want to stay,” I said, “I really do. I love you, Oia. There’s no place I’d rather be than by your side.”
Oia’s face softened.
“You too, Venus,” I said, making eye contact with her.
“Is that really how you feel? About me?” Venus said, her eyes swimming with emotion.
“Hell yeah,” I nodded, feeling emotional myself. “And you too Cygna. But not you, Sirius,” I snorted. “You can go eat a bag of dicks.”
Sirius snarked, “If you chop yours off and cook it first, I might consider it.”
I chuckled at that. Then sighed. “I hate to say it, ladies, but that dragon was deadly serious. I tried fighting him. He broke every bone in my body. He has the same powers as my ring only better. And he seems to know about my rings. How they work. What they do. Worst of all, he drained them.”
“He what?” Oia asked.
“Drained my ring fuel. Like cutting a hole in the bottom of a gas tank or fuel cell or whatever you’re most familiar with. Took him two seconds and my rings were both dry. No power left.” I shook my head. “He’s unbeatable.”
Sirius cut in, “How do you know it was a he? Sounds to me like a she, she beat you so easily.”
“Honestly, I wouldn’t know a male dragon from a female. It really doesn’t matter. If I stay here, I die. It’s that simple. I die tonight, or tomorrow morning, or maybe the next day. But I won’t be able to help you ladies run this place.”
“Help us?” Sirius said doubtfully. “Ruling this planet is your job.”
“I can’t run a planet by myself. I need your help. I need the four of you to help me rule. Why do you think I’m turning down sex from every woman here? I promised Oia I would make her my first and I’m sticking to it. But at this rate, I’ll be dead before that ever happens. Everyone keeps trying to assassinate me. Anyway, the only thing that makes sense is for me to leave my rings here with you ladies and leave Zalaxia.”
At that point, I thought, Rings? Can you both power down?
In my HUD the following text appeared?
CONFIRM POWER DOWN? Y/N?
Yes, power down.
My HUD went dark and I felt a vague sense of sizzling in my brain as the electric ants left forever.
I pulled both rings off my fingers.
“Here,” I said, offering my palm where both rings lay. “Who wants which?”
The Bombshells goggled in disbelief.
—: Chapter 124 :—
Still holding both rings in my palm, I said, “I’ve got the ring you ladies gave
