Wolf in curiosity. I selected a few pairs of jeans, thinking it would be enough. Wolf had other ideas. By the time we left, I had six new outfits. I’d thought it would be the end of shopping for me. I should have known better. Wolf was a man on a mission.

“I don’t really do the dressing up thing,” Wolf said. “But there will be times you’ll want something nicer to wear. Parties for the family at the clubhouse. Anniversary dinners. Holidays.”

I dug in my heels as he tried to drag me into what I knew was an expensive department store. I’d been inside it a few times, just to browse, and I hadn’t seen a single item under fifty dollars. He didn’t relent and kept tugging until I fell into step beside him.

“Wolf, it’s too much,” I protested.

“Not nearly enough.”

I eyed the tags of the dresses we passed and blanched. Most were several hundred dollars. Why would I ever need clothes like these? I had a hard time picturing the old ladies I’d met dressing in anything like this.

He took my hands and pulled me closer. “Look, Glory. I can more than afford this shopping trip today. I want you to have some nice things, and before you get all defensive, I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with what you have now. I just want to add to it. Get one dress from here, and a pair of shoes to match. We can get stuff somewhere else after that.”

I had to admit the dresses were beautiful. I’d never owned anything so nice before, not even when I’d lived at home with my parents. They’d led a comfortable life, but we’d never had a reason to wear things like these dresses.

“I’ve never seen a man so eager to open up his wallet,” I muttered.

“Only with you.” He winked.

“I didn’t agree to be yours just so you’d buy me things,” I said.

He stopped mid-step, his gaze narrowing on me. “You think I don’t know that? Hell, I’ve been trying to sneak things to you from the first week you were here.”

He’d been… “That was you?”

His cheeks flushed a little and he nodded. “I didn’t think you’d accept them if I gave them to you outright, so I left them on the porch.”

My heart melted a little more. I’d never realized it had been Wolf. He’d left so many things for Sienna, and even a few groceries from time to time. I’d been grateful to our guardian angel. Knowing it was Wolf somehow made it even more special.

“All right. But don’t make a habit of this, Wolf. We don’t need anything but you.”

He kissed me, holding me close. “Promise.”

“I only feel one hand at my waist. Did you just cross your fingers?”

“I’ll never tell.”

I shook my head as he made me try on multiple dresses until I found something I liked. After he paid for the dress and a matching pair of shoes, he dragged me to another store. By the time he’d finished convincing me we needed new wardrobes, new toys for Sienna, and things for the house, I felt like I might drop from exhaustion. I’d never been one to shop all day, and I wondered how people did it. No, how did they enjoy it? Because my feet hurt, my back ached, and I just wanted to go home.

“Ready to pick up our daughter?” he asked as he pulled through the gates of the compound.

“More than.” I couldn’t help but smile whenever he called Sienna his. She’d never had a daddy, and even if I’d known who her sperm donor was, I’d have never let him anywhere near her. Knowing she’d have Wolf to help guide her along and protect her made tears mist my eyes for a moment.

We pulled up out front of Outlaw’s house and I laughed at the sight that greeted us. September in Georgia was still hot and muggy, but they’d spread a large blanket on the ground. Their toddler, Valeria, was trying to play with Sienna, even though my poor girl didn’t seem to know what was going on. Outlaw had stretched out on the blanket, his head propped on his hand, while Elena took pictures of the kids with her phone.

“Wishing I’d thought of this,” Wolf said.

“I think Sienna will enjoy it more when she’s a little older. Maybe in the spring we can have a picnic with her.”

He flashed me a smile before getting out of the truck. I followed him over to the blanket and sank onto my knees beside Elena. I knew she was pregnant, but if she’d started to experience any morning sickness, or any other fun things, it didn’t show. She glowed with health and happiness.

“I see the girls are having fun,” I said.

“Valeria more than Sienna,” Elena said. “But I thought the fresh air might be good for them. And for us. Outlaw was getting cranky looking at his computer so I made him take a break.”

Outlaw grinned up at her. “Real hardship there. Spend time with you or stare at the computer. Besides, I’d given the club everything I could for now.”

She reached for his hand, massaging it between hers. “If they need anything else, send them to Wire. You know how your hands get when you overdo it. You don’t have to be Superman.”

I wanted to ask what was wrong with his hands, but I figured it wasn’t my place. If it was general knowledge, I’d ask Wolf when we got home. Even if I didn’t have a medical degree, there might be something I could do to help. The way Elena talked, his hands caused him pain.

“Ready to go, my little angel?” Wolf asked, scooping Sienna up off the blanket. She latched onto him and started babbling.

I’d never considered having more kids since I’d thought it would just be me and Sienna forever. But seeing her with Wolf? Yeah, I kind of wanted another one. Maybe not right this second, but in the next
