stepped into the shower room and placed the bundled pack on top of the cupboard. He pulled out a towel and jar. "The jar contains scrubbing paste. It will help refresh you. The dress within the pack is lighter and should be more comfortable." He pointed to another jar on a shelf near what would pass for a toilet. "There is powder in the jar that you put in the bowl base after you, ummm,"

"Use the facility?" Kaily supplied. She found it strange that she 'knew' the Kahoali language from what Shimani did to her mind, but still there were some concepts knowing the language was not enough. She pieced together the words that made sense to her.

Shimani frowned. "We will go with that wording. After pull this cord." He picked up a small cloth from a stack. "This," he frowned and paused.

"I get the idea, Shimani. I'm sure I'll figure it out." Kaily almost smiled. She no longer possessed a sense of humor, otherwise she might've been amused at his discomfort explaining of everyday hygiene. She would admit, the facility or bathroom or shower room as he called it, seemed similar and yet different. Strange to know just how different it could be on another planet. She never gave it much thought. Something simple like going to the bathroom shouldn't be that complicated. What she once took for granted she now gave thought to. Strange.

"I will bring food and drink. There is enough time to refresh and rest before this evening's repast."

"Thank you, Shimani." Kaily stood in the middle of the room, unsure what to do with herself. "I appreciate the kindness shown me. Ummm, what is an evening repast?"

"It's a time for the entire village to share," he paused and his borrow furrowed, "the village gathers near the Queen's hut in the open area where we share food and drink, visit, and listen to music. A gathering time at the end of the day."

Kaily closed her eyes and partially turned away from Shimani. Great! She thought. Just what she needed, to be paraded around in front of the entire village.

Shimani moved to stand in front of Kaily. He tilted her chin up to force her to look him in the eyes. He produced a cloth, wiped the tears falling and handed it to her. "I promise that it will be alright."

Kaily tried to smile at him for his kindness. It came out more of a grimace.

He gave her a small smile in return. There was compassion in his eyes. "You'll see. For now, take time to clean up, change and rest, sleep even if it will help. You can stay here and hide a way for a while. No one will disturb you."

"Thank you, Shimani."

He nodded. "I'll leave the food and drink on the table over there," he said indicating the small table with two chairs in the eating area. "The doors don't have locks. I understand if that makes you uncomfortable, but trust me, you are safe here, Kaily."

Kaily nodded. She watched Shimani walk to the door. She didn't like being forced to trust. He asked her to do just that. Despite the very short time she knew him, she found that something about Shimani made her want to trust him, which bothered her. She didn't feel safe. She didn't know if she ever would. Even in her home on Earth, she didn't always feel safe. The brief moment in Moto's arms she felt safe, but that feeling disappeared.

He stopped at the door and looked back at her.

She thought he might say something, but instead he smiled and left, closing the door behind him.

Kaily looked around not sure what to do. She started towards the shower room, but then stopped. She turned towards the eating area and thought to sit at the table or open the cupboards and see what she might find inside. Instead, she walked to the sleeping area, laid on the mat and let the tears fall unchecked. She was tired of it all. She wanted to go home. Not even the presence of her dark warrior could discourage that desire. Maybe if he looked at her just once, but he didn't. He acted as if she didn't exist. She sobbed as the weight of her situation settled heavily upon her.

"Where do you think you're going?" Shimani pushed off the outside wall to the guest hut Kaily now resided.

Moto glared at Shimani. "Checking on the girl."

Shimani stepped in front of Moto, stopping him from reaching the door. "The girl's name is Kaily, and she's fine. I just dropped off food and drink for her."

Moto moved to step around Shimani. Shimani blocked again. "Move!"

Shimani stood his ground. "She needs time, Moto. She just found out that she is trapped among people who don't want her in their midst. She doesn't how to get home, and she doesn't understand what happened to her. She needs to come to terms with her circumstances, and for that she needs time. And she is exhausted. She needs rest. Or do you intend to take her back to her home world?" Shimani asked.

Moto pointed towards the hut. "You saw the tears in her eyes."

Shimani nodded, "I did and that is why, she needs peace, at least for tonight. If you are not going to take her back to her home world. I'm asking you give her this night alone. She's endured enough, Moto. Check on her in the morning, but please give her tonight alone." Shimani said. "Oh, and when you do check on her, be careful not to get caught. From what I hear, the Queen ordered you to keep your distance."

Moto stared at Shimani. He ran his hand over his face. "Fine, I'll wait until the morning, and I am always careful, Shimani."

"Are you?" Shimani's tone held a hint of amusement, "I also heard that you're in life changing trouble with our Queen."

"Who told you?" Moto asked. He took one long look towards Kaily's hut.

"Sari," Shimani said.

"Of course,
