same time. Addicted to the way he smiled and smirked, taunted and teased.

To the way he made me feel in control and completely thrown into chaos just with one sweep of his eyes.

My body reaches out for his against my will.

Opening my eyes to a dark bedroom, I reach out with my fingers, confused when they come back empty.

Confused that when I sit up in my Fletcher family-provided slinky slip, Andrew is nowhere near me, sitting on the edge of the bed.

As if purposely finding the farthest corner, he perches there, hunched over his hands in his dark hair.

I slide the comforter down.

“Hey,” I call out.

Nothing.

“Andrew…what’s wrong? Are you okay?”

He says nothing at first. And then when he speaks, it is so soft, so low, that I’m sure I’ve misheard him.

Because there’s no way he’s saying what I think he is.

I swallow over a lump that dives onto the back of my tongue, my throat going dry.

“Wait, what did you just say?”

The coldness I felt upon waking comes back with a vengeance. Especially when he repeats himself.

His words are an exhale that cools the air another ten degrees.

“The idea of having this weekend together was a mistake,” he tells me again, his voice as harsh and cutting as the sharpest knife.

I pull the blanket across my lap tighter, staring into the darkness of the room.

The back of his head doesn’t move as his fingers sift through the soft strands, his broad shoulders heaving up and down.

Rage creeps across my collarbone, settling in.

“What… Are—are you fucking serious right now?”

“I’m dead serious,” he says with no emotion. “I’ve never been more serious.”

“What the hell is going on with you? What—what happened? Are you sure you’re okay—”

“I’m fine,” he snaps, standing to his feet, quicker than I expect. He doesn’t turn. “I just don’t think we thought this through before we did this.”

“Don't you dare say that,” I say, throwing the blanket aside. I lean forward in bed. “We agreed to this, we made the deal. This is what happens when two people make a promise to each other.” I glare. “And I know you’re unfamiliar with what that means.”

His words cut through me, leaving me cold and miserable amongst the warm sheets. “I want you to go back to your family—to the bar. To Eric. That’s where your responsibilities lie. And I’ll stay here with mine.”

“No.” My voice is a cry, sharp and swift through the dark. I can barely see the back of Andrew’s head it’s so black.

I don’t care. I know he can hear me.

“I know what's best for you,” he comments like a robot devoid of all feeling. He turns towards me, eyes as dead as his voice sounds. His dark brows tighten into a straight line. “I know what's best for me too.”

“And what is that?” I ask, a flash of anger flushing my face. Heat hits me all at once. “I'm not going to leave you.”

“But you are.” Andrew blinks slowly as if it hurts him just to be standing. He closes his eyes briefly before opening them again. “I'm just saying this is what's best for us.”

He looks at me, his icy blues full of emotion beneath his dark hair, and I can tell he’s been watching me while I slept.

I just know it.

He wants to reach for me. Just as I reached for him the moment I awoke…

And he’s denying it.

We stay that way for what feels like forever, watching each other, and I know with every bone in my body that I can deny just about anything…

But I won’t deny this. Deny him.

I won’t let him deny it either.

As Andrew’s eyes remain on me in the dark, I crawl to the edge of the bed, gaze up at him, and reach for his belt.

I don’t have to say another word.

And he doesn’t stop me.

My voice is a tease—a taunt, as I unzip his pants, my eyes fixed on his hardened face.

His face softens with every second he watches me, the soft sound of his opening fly making the air hum with anticipation, and I lick my lips, reveling in how in control I feel.

For the first time ever.

I open my mouth up to him.

“What was it that you said to me before?” I ask. “That 'You weren't trying to change my life? That you just wanted me to enjoy it a little'?"

I breathe out, hissing as I reach inside his pants, grabbing his cock, palming his thickness in my hand—hard and ready. “As for the changing my life part…it's already too late for that. In some ways, you have. But as for the enjoying part, that's what I'm going to do, Andrew. You want to walk away from me. Fine.”

I pull out his erection, pressing my lips to the tip and Andrew sighs, a low sound that fills the room with the vibration of his arousal. I hum. “But not before I enjoy this first…”

Chapter 16

NANCY

Andrew Fletcher is a liar.

He’s proved that once before, and he’s proving it again.

He’s running. Running like he always has.

But this time, he’s running from me.

I pull back, my gaze still on his, and I make a decision.

I don’t care about this no emotions bullshit.

I’m doing this for me. I’m doing this for us.

I’m doing this for myself.

I want him to know how I feel about him. To know that I desire him. To know that I want him in my life.

I want him to know how badly I want to enjoy this weekend with him.

To enjoy him.

To enjoy everything he has to offer.

Because I’ve done enough running.

Too much running.

Enough.

I’m done.

I reach my hand out and take his cock in my hand. I slowly stroke him, watching his eyes flutter shut, his lips parting as he moans.

Hell, I can’t help but be amazed by how big he is.

How warm and hard.

How welcoming.

He smells and feels so right…

I glare up at him, my lips twisting.

I tease the head of his cock with my tongue, then spear his
