with Drina-shaped bite marks. Sam's entire body was sticky, and it wasn't just sweat covering him.

Funny thing was, Drina still had her clothes on.

Sam stared up at the ceiling. He didn't know what in the twelve layers of hell happened last night with the two of them. He didn't know how or why Mattie had let Drina into bed with them, nor did he know how or why Drina came to them to begin with.

Most people would have just faced the wall and ignored them.

But Drina didn't. She wanted them, she said, both. While he might have been prone to doubting her before, thinking that maybe she was trying to get into bed to steal Mattie away, he couldn't honestly believe that now if he tried.

No woman would have done what she did to him last night if she didn't want him. At one point, Mattie had tapped out for a break from Drina's attention, and so she whirled her complete focus onto him. He found out quickly that the center of her focus was a dangerous place to be.

She didn't let him finish for a long time, but that didn't mean she didn't shove him toward the finish line over and over again until he was shaking like a leaf, his breath coming out ragged and irregular. Spirits, she had a filthy mouth on her to boot. Every time he was set to burst, she would stop what she was doing and touch him everywhere else but where he needed it, telling him all of the things she wanted to do to him, all of the ways she was going to have him.

Mattie enjoyed the show. Very much. He was almost scared that she would get ideas and the two of them would gang up on him. He didn't know if he could handle that quite yet.

His girlfriend stirred—well, were they both his girlfriends now, or just Mattie? Wait, he hadn't even asked her yet . . . but he would. As soon as he had a shower.

He found a pair of big blue eyes staring up at him and he smiled.

"Morning," he said.

"Morning," Mattie whispered, settling into his side and flicking her eyes toward Drina. Her thick black hair had been tied back with a leather thong last night, but most of it was loose and wild now.

"How do you feel?" Mattie whispered.

"Better than great. You?"

"Sore. Happy."

Sam's answering smile was quick and he kissed her. She let go of his length and he held back a disappointed huff. He'd been hoping to go again. Oh well.

"Do you think she'll still feel the same as she did last night?" He whispered, his eyes darting meaningfully to the still-sleeping woman.

"Definitely," Mattie said. "I know I do. Do you?"

"Yeah."

He studied her freckled face for a sign, a hint that she wasn't okay with what happened. He could read Mattie like a map, even when she was hiding something. He expected to find jealousy there, maybe embarrassment, maybe regret, but all he saw was sunshine and joy.

"She made me a bet, you know," Mattie whispered, huffing out a laugh. "She bet she could bed you before me."

Sam rolled his eyes and shook his head softly. "She made the same bet with me, too."

"That cheat." Mattie wrinkled her nose and playfully glared at Drina, still peacefully sleeping.

"What did you get for winning?" Sam asked.

"She had to do whatever I said for a day. You?"

"I never decided."

Sam's brain quickly supplied him with all of the creative ways he could pay her back for torturing him all night.

"Well, no time like the present."

"Aw, Sam. Let her sleep."

"No way," he nudged Drina and she made a pouty little noise before grunting and flipping on her other side, giving them her back.

"Wake up Drina. We want breakfast in bed and you lost the bet."

"Nooo," she whined. Sam considered her for a moment before he pinched her backside and made her squeak.

Surprisingly, he didn't feel exhausted that day. Sure, he only got three hours of sleep, but he felt great. Drina wasn't dragging either, and just like that, she was her chipper self again. Sam and Mattie figured she'd talk about it when she was ready, but for now, Sam was content to just bask in the day and laugh with Drina as they watched Mattie try and sit down normally. Drina thought the two of them could make Mattie walk bowlegged next time, and he reminded her to be careful, because what she gave Mattie, she would get ten times back.

That made her go red as a tomato and he had to wonder what she was hiding.

The day ended amazingly. The three of them had been content to hang out with Fletch and Rosin in the common room. Sam poured over a tome on shadow magic while the others chatted about whatever flitted into their heads.

He found something in the shadow tome. Something he couldn't quite understand about a doppelganger spell. The theory behind it was complex enough to require a mathematical formula, but the gist was simple enough—it was a copycat spell, though whether the copy was illusionary or not was up in the air.

He might have spent the rest of the night pouring over it, but he couldn't. Now, in the dead of night, it was time to get down to business.

Sam had been crouching in the shadows of the bushes for damn near an hour, waiting for Delcan to hurry up and leave for one of his nightly parties. He'd been in the shower for what seemed like eons, and once he was out, Sam slapped his forehead and dragged his palms down his face because the blonde was taking his sweet time getting ready.

It didn't surprise him that Delcan walked around his dorm naked for an inordinately long time. After all, he was literally the only one bunking in it. His parents must have paid a pretty penny to get him his own room, and Sam could suddenly understand why it
