I turn and walk out before he can say another word. I go to my room and get changed for my evening and then, when Lorelei comes to visit him in the afternoon, I slip out. He tries to stop me, but I tell him I’ll call him if there’s a problem. Then I get the hell out of there and make sure nobody is following me.
This is my mess, and I need to clean it up so I can have a clean break from the club until I can get over all this crap.
This is my time to shine, so to speak.
Here goes nothing.
“I’M NOT CERTAIN WHAT planet you are from, but whatever it is, the fact that you think we’d accept half of what belongs to us, makes me want to laugh out loud.”
I stare at Devin, and the urge to poke his eyes out, right here in this restaurant, is overwhelming. How did a man as nice as his father make a horrible child like this? My mother sits next to him, nodding her head after every sentence like one of those stupid bobble head dolls. She’s a sheep, and there is clearly a reason she is sticking around so loyally to this turd of a human.
He’s obviously got something over her, or my suspicions are correct and the two of them are in some sort of relationship. Though, I can’t be certain what he sees in her because she looks like a washed up old sea snake. I shouldn’t be cruel, but age has not done anything for her.
I look at her and wonder, if somewhere deep down, she has any sort of feeling for me. Or does she honestly not care even a fraction about me? Obviously, she doesn’t, considering she’s sitting here letting Devin behave like this. I don’t know how you can grow a child in your body and not love it the way you’re supposed to.
It’ll be something I’ll never understand.
I have my phone on silent, but that doesn’t mean I can’t feel the vibrations through my bag that’s on the floor by my foot. I’m certain by now Adan has told Riggs what’s going on and they’re all furious with me, but it is what it is. I have to do this. It’s my family and my mess, I shouldn’t have involved the club to begin with. At the time, though, I wasn’t sure what else I could do.
“Listen, I’m not here to play games with you just as much as you’re not here to play games with me,” I say calmly. “It’s simple, you take what I’m offering or you get nothing. I know what I’d be jumping on.”
Devin stares at me, shaking his head. “You must be out of your little mind if you think I’m going to accept this when I can have the lot. The lot. You haven’t even sold his house yet, when you do, it’ll be another million more. You’re sitting on over four million dollars. That’s my money. Mine.”
God. This is a waste of time.
“Listen, it’s clear your brain hasn’t fully developed,” I say, “but the thing is, I don’t have to give you a damned cent. So go ahead, walk away with nothing. It doesn’t matter to me.”
Devin leans over the table. “I’m walking away with the lot.”
“How?” I say, crossing my arms. “By killing me? That’ll get you nowhere. I’ve signed it all over to some place you’ll never find or be able to touch. What is your answer to that one?”
He grins. “You’ll just have to wait and see, won’t you?”
The way he says that makes my blood run cold. Like ice cold. It’s said in a way that’s terrifying, because Devin is likely to do something really damned stupid to get what he wants, and maybe I should have reconsidered my decision to come here. I have a sick, sick feeling my life could be in danger right about now.
“You touch me, I promise you it’ll be the end. Not only is the biker club on board, but so is my father, they know everything about you and will track you down.”
Devin’s grin only gets bigger. “Will they?”
Ugh.
Dick.
Bag of dicks.
He’s thought of everything, I just know it.
“I’m done here.”
I push my seat back and turn, walking out. I’m trembling as I rush down the sidewalk and head toward my car. I go to reach for my phone when suddenly my entire body is hit with something hard, another human it would seem.
I stumble forward and my body is slammed into the brick wall beside me. I feel hot breath near my ear and warm blood trickling down my forehead. My head must have hit the wall without my knowledge. The voice in my ear is menacing, and I’ll give it to him—he’s quick.
“Mark my words, Ramona. I will get what I want. You give it to me within twenty-four hours, or I’ll take it my way. That’s a promise.”
I slam my head backward even though it hurts like hell when it connects with his face. He bellows in pain, and I spin around, using my elbow to hit him right in the nose. Blood spurts from his face and he looks at me, horrified. My mother stands nearby, her eyes wide. “Do not fucking touch me,” I growl. “Next time I’ll cut your damned dick off. Stay away, Devin. This is your last warning.”
I turn and rush off to my car and, when I get in, I speed off without once looking back.
I pull over when I’m far enough away that I feel safe.
I glance at myself in the rearview mirror. There is blood trickling from a spot on my forehead.
God.
I’m never going to hear the end of this.

I walk through Adan’s front door, and the second I do, I know they’re going to lose it
