Wire turned around his eyes red and tired, his hands bloody.
“What?” He barked, no one usually interrupted him.
“Just came to watch.”
Marcel leaned over slightly in his chair, a long slash mark across his face and blood pouring down from his arms and ankles. “You fucking dog.” He mumbled, blood and chips of enamel sliding out the sides of his mouth.
Wire picked the small heavy pouch he held in his hand and hit Marcel hard in the face. He groaned and coughed up more blood.
“I already told you, I don’t know shit. I can’t fucking tell you what I don’t know.” The man cried now.
Wire turned toward me, dropping the pouch down on the ground and walked in my direction. He looked tired. I had heard stories of the ruthless, cold-hearted pain dealer, but that wasn’t the Wire I saw here today. The Wire of old had no conscience and no angel on his shoulder, telling him when enough was enough. This Wire had a wife and baby girl who changed him into a man who thought about every single life he took.
“He hasn’t said a word. I’ll keep working him, though.” He grumbled in my direction.
“Can I take over?” I asked my eyes, never leaving Marcel.
“You don’t have to. I’ll keep going.”
I turned my gaze onto Wire, letting him see the caged beast trying to claw its way out.
“You sure you up for it?” Wire asked.
“More than you fucking know.” I walked over to the long utility cabinet that held most of Wire’s tools and took out the propane torches, metal twine, hatchet, scalpel, quite a few empty beer cans that he had in the garbage, smelling salts and a head vice. I set up the propane torch on a make-shift kiln. It was nothing more than a steel bowl and cinder blocks, but it would do. I lit the torches, crushed all the cans, and put them in the bowl. It would give me a nice amount when it was done.
Next, I went about securing Marcel the way I wanted him. Arms spread out on either side fully pressed against the high table, metal twine tied tight on his wrists and elbows. Finally, I attached the head clamp securing it to the chair and Marcel’s head right above the ears; I didn’t want him to move for what I had planned for him.
Marcel was screaming and cursing at me every step of the way, but I didn’t say a word to him, just took my time and enjoyed the process of the set up. In fact, my brain didn’t even process most of what he said. I heard things like wait until Ruby finds you, and you’re gonna wish they killed that little girl, something about the whole world falling on my head. None of it mattered.
I took a look at the starting project. He was all set up, and I was feeling excited, a smirk forming on my face. I glanced up at Wire, who was staring at me strangely, head cocked to the side, watching me in either wonder or suspicion as I took my moment to admire my work.
I shrugged it off. We were there to torture information out of Marcel. If it was sadism that was needed, I could deliver. I had an excellent teacher in Ruby.
“Marcel.” I spoke clearly and with a little rush to my voice, “I know you have information. I want it, but I’ll live if you don’t have it. You will not.” I walked in front of him so he could see me.
“I don’t know shit! Fuck you, Nico. You think the chastity box was bad? She’ll cut your dick off the next time she sees you. You’ll forever be her little bitch boy.” He spat at me, a glob of spit and blood landing at my feet.
I tsked at him, “See now, is that polite?” I asked him a genuine question.
He looked over to Wire and then back at me. “I mean, can’t we be gentlemen about this?”
“Fuck you.”
I reached over and grabbed his hand, with almost no strength at all, I pulled his thumb back, his joint popping out of the socket.
He screamed loud and tried to pull his arms, but they were secure in my binds.
I grabbed his pointer, “You going to be nice, or are we going to have to do this the slow way. You can keep all your information. I’ll break you inch by inch just to hear you squeal.”
Fear coated his already bloodied face.
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry, Nico. I never wanted to do that stuff to you. I have to do what they say. We all do. I’m sorry.” He sobbed like a baby.
I nodded; he was probably telling the truth.
“Oh, now hush, hush,” I patted his shoulder in concern, “don’t worry about that now. We have more pressing matters to discuss.” My cold voice, rising over the sound of his soft cries.
“Now, here is where we’re at, I’m not going to ask you any questions. You are going to tell me what you know about Ruby and Harrington’s whereabouts, anything you know about what they have going on or could be even the slightest bit useful to me.” I walked behind him and picked up the scalpel before I made my way back in front of him. “The thing is, I feel like I have been patient enough, don’t you?”
“Yes, you sure have, Nico. So patient.”
“Yeah, I thought so.” I nodded as I paced slowly in front of him, “That said, I don’t really feel like waiting very long for you to tell me what you have on your mind. Instead, I’m just going to look for myself. You’re on the clock, Marcel.” I showed him the scalpel before I walked behind him in my position.
I bent down slightly so he could hear me, “Oh, by the way, if you say
