Before I could consider the implications of that, the black CyberKnight’s horse bucked in the air and spiraled around to blast an approaching trio of guardswomen firing on him with their bolt rifles. His black blast hit them dead on. The three women screeched as their armor crumbled away to dust and they instantly aged into shriveled, mummified corpses. They were long dead before their desiccated remains clattered to the ground.
Out of nowhere, an orange Dragonfire mech came whooshing toward the black knight, leading with its huge rolling rifle spitting big blaster bolts.
BRAA-AA-AAAAP!
A split second before the bolts were about to hit, the black CyberKnight bucked forward so fast, it seemed like he’d disappeared, only to reappear 100 meters distant, like he’d teleported.
I gawked. “How did he—?!”
ZHOOM!
From behind me, the Tesserack ray from the red CyberKnight chewed through the orange Dragonfire, disintegrating it in a cloud of spiraling dimensional triangles that quickly disappeared, lost across spacetime forever.
“Omega 7 is gone!” a female voice wailed over comms.
“NO!” I shouted in frustration. There was nothing I could do for the pilot of that orange mech now.
In front of me, a group of black space demons were exchanging bolt fire with a different platoon of guardswomen. Raging, I hurtled toward them, flying blinding fast. I focused on the largest demon, a muscular monster 4 meters-tall with a humanoid body, coiling serpent’s tail, and the massive snout and jaws of an evil black allosaur. He was swinging his black plasma axe in huge arcs, attempting to slice guardswomen in half while flapping his enormous black bat wings.
“Everybody back up!” I shouted at the nearby guardswomen over comms. “I’ll get the bat-winged demon with the axe!”
As the guardswomen retreated, using their armor thrusters to put distance between them and Allosaur Axe, the white CyberKnight galloped by overhead on his white robot horse and pointed his white lance down at the group of guardswomen. A white explosion of energy shot from the tip and burned blinding bright over the guardswomen. Their bodies instantly crackled and twisted and turned shades of white, making them look almost like statues. Instead of breaking apart in stone fragments and shards like I semi-expected, they sprouted tails from their armored asses, horns from their helmets, and claws from their gauntlets and boots. Their armor also changed, becoming a grotesque, demonic parody of the formerly elegant design. The same thing happened to their ABR-17 bolt rifles, which transformed into writhing demon rifles that coughed out deadly energy bolts.
“They mutated!” shouted one of my Shock Knights somewhere behind me.
“Turned into demons,” someone else shouted over comms.
They certainly had.
The white demon guardswomen suddenly shifted their focus to me, growling and flying toward me while firing white energy bolts from their snarling and barking demon rifles. No exaggeration. Their rifles literally barked and snarled angrily between coughing out blasts like breath weapons.
I banked sideways.
The white bolt fire followed.
If there was any chance I was getting out of this alive, it was growing slimmer by the second.
—: Chapter 35 :—
Before I could focus and attempt extracting mass from the white demon guardswomen to disappear them, the black Allosaur Axe demon came after me with a vengeance. I had to rocket out of there to avoid his swinging black plasma axe.
My Shock Knights were returning fire, but it didn’t deter fire from the white demon guardswomen or the black space demons converging on me in the air space above the battlefield.
BRAAAAAAP!
A blue Dragonfire Air Guard mech in the vicinity sprayed the space demons with its huge rolling bolt rifle. Allosaur Axe and several regular black space demons burst into clouds of black blood as the Dragonfire streaked by, turbines screaming. It looped upward in the air like a back-flipping gymnast.
“Nice shooting!” I hollered over comms.
“Thank me when they’re all dead!” a women replied with icy determination over comms. “Permission to open fire on those white demons!” She meant the ones who had formerly been royal guardswomen and were now chasing me while firing their barking demon guns.
“Who is this in the blue mech?!” I called over comms, rocketing farther and farther away from the battle in a futile attempt to shake the white demon guardswomen.
“First Lieutenant Mira, flying Delta 9!”
“You’re supposed to be my flight instructor today! Are you in the blue mech on my six?!”
“Yes! I can take out those white demons if you give the order!”
“They used to be guardswomen!”
“I saw!”
“Can they be changed back?! I don’t want to kill them if they can be changed back!” While I shouted it, I was surrounded by a hail of white blaster bolts from the demon women and their barking dragon rifles.
“I don’t know! Ask someone in Control! Call me if you need me!” Mira’s blue mech arrived at the apex of its loop and fired with its big rolling rifle between its legs, aiming at another small group of regular black demons that disappeared in black, bloody clouds.
“Crown to Control!” I shouted. “Does anybody know if the guardswomen turned to demons can be changed back?!”
“Control to Crown! I’ll check with Major Akeso in Medical!”
“Thank you! Ask everyone else too! If she doesn’t know, maybe someone else will!”
“Yes, my king. Control to all personnel! If anyone knows anything about getting turned into a white space demon, sound off! We need to know if they can be changed back to normal!”
“Corporal Syx to Control! They can’t!”
“What?!” I shouted. “This is Crown! Please repeat!”
“Syx to Crown! They can’t be changed back!”
“How do you know?!” I demanded, suddenly remembering Corporal Syx. She was the soldier who had touched Titano’s cybernetic spine and briefly enlarged her breasts to porn-comic proportions.
“Trust me!” Syx said over comms. “I’ve seen it before! Their minds are gone! Nothing can bring them back now! Kill them before they kill you!”
I gasped when a giant red demon jumped up from where he’d been hiding in the purple jungle canopy. His red plasma sword sliced through the air directly in front of me. I was
