“Open her mouth!” Agatha said as she removed another bottle from her belt and poured it down Thea’s throat.
Nothing was working. She was no longer breathing on her own.
The phoenix flew down from the sky and landed on the shoulder of Sorgin, who had now taken her human form once again.
“Go on now, help her.” Sorgin said to the bird as she stroked the bird under the chin. He hopped down to sit on the shoulder of Dean as a single tear rolled out of the corner of its eye and landed in Thea’s open mouth. A golden wave of power glided over her skin and was soaked into her body. For a brief second, you could see her heart shine through her shirt, as it started to beat regularly, on its own. She coughed and opened her eyes.
“What happened?” Thea questioned, as she looked up into Dean’s eyes.
“You died,” Sorgin answered with the sound of amusement in her voice.
“She wasn’t dead; her heart was still beating.” Robin said as she scolded Sorgin. The old imp witch shrugged her shoulders, turned around, and walked back towards the house.
The witches didn’t stay frozen for long; they were starting to melt. The handless witch was being held at bay by Charles’ sword against her neck.
“Sorgin, we will need some binding bands,” Robin said with authority.
“I cannot break the deal, I’m not allowed to collect living things,” Sorgin said in response.
“I’m collecting them, not you!” Robin shouted at the witch’s back.
Sorgin returned quickly to the group witches. Her face lit up as she applied a black band to the ankle of the handless witch. “Now even if her hands grow back, she won’t be able to cast a spell.”
Thea looked around the yard to see the disastrous aftermath of the battle that had happened. Devin was dead, lying in the grass with a few of the woodland critters sitting around him. Riley was pretty badly injured, and Thea took to healing her the best that she could; Rose was nowhere to be found; Agatha stated that she saw her flee during the battle. Most of the creatures who were once trapped at the chateau, took the opportunity to leave during the battle. Thea did her best to heal everyone that was still alive in the yard, but there were many who did not make it. Thea was weak and having problems breathing.
“What are you doing?!” Agatha snapped at Charles, who was hacking away at the ice of Thalia’s ice sculpture.
“I want my eye back! She stole it from me!” He was taking swings with his ample sword and shards of ice were falling to the ground.
“Wait! I have something better for you!” Robin went over to Thea’s bag and removed the little glass bottle that had Thalia’s eyeball in it. “An eye for an eye.” She walked over to Charles and pulled out a small dagger. She stabbed him in the face where his eye use to be.
“What are you doing?!” he screamed as the blood started to stream down his face.
“Hold still!” she growled back at him, as she placed the green eye into his head.
“Thea, heal him,” she commanded, wiping her bloody hands onto her skirt. Thea walked over and placed her hand over his bloodied socket and sent her energy soaring through her fingertips and into his face. The skin started to heal around his eye. The blood rolled up his cheek and back into his head. He now had one blue eye, and one green.
“Can you see?” Dean asked softly.
“Yes!” Charles cheered as he hugged Thea.
“I really need to rest,” Thea said as she started to walk back to the house. Sorgin had a few of the gremlins and gnomes that hadn’t left move the frozen witches into the house to one of her collection rooms. The handless witch was healed by Thea, but couldn’t cast any spells because of Sorgin’s binding. She was also locked into one of Sorgin’s many rooms.
Thea looked around the yard one more time and saw her friends there, walking back in a group to the house. Robin, Agatha, Riley, Charles and Dean. She smiled at them and breathed a sigh of relief, but then paused for a moment as she looked down to the ground.
“Where’s Fig? Where is my cat?!” she yelled in a panic. “Has anyone seen Fig?”
CHAPTER TWENTY
Panicky and barely able to move, Thea dragged herself through the house yelling for her cat the whole way.
“Fig?! Where are you?! FIG!!!!???” she screamed for her little orange cat.
Where is he?! What happened to him?!
The few elves that stayed behind shook their heads no, when asked if they had seen the cat. Thea made her way out to the backyard to where Boog was with the creatures that were left. She could see the baby bear past the force field of the yard; he was lying in a heap with a massive bite taken out of his side.
“Have you seen my cat!?” she frantically asked Boog. He pointed towards the barn.
“Meow,” she heard a faint cry from the long grass by the barn.
“Fig?” She ran over to the barn.
“He attacked the Grimalkin, while protecting the creatures that were trying to leave. The Grimalkin was here for a moment, until there was that loud scream of a banshee-then, she was gone,” Boog stated in a low voice as he touched Thea gently on the shoulder.
Fig laid on his side, with his fur soaked in blood. He no longer looked orange, but a red lump of fur, caked in mud. He
