sorted out. You might already be aware that the visas for you, Mr. Lewis, and Mr. Abbadelli are still showing as ‘Active’ on your digi-passports. The same goes for the security personnel. The visas are still valid from your last visit. Limos have been arranged to pick up all three of you from your individual homes at 8:45 a.m., and then arriving at the hangar in time for the flight. The pilots and flight personnel will be on board two hours before you arrive, making sure everything is ready for the flight. All the staff have been informed this trip is top-secret and none of the flight info should be disclosed. I have ordered a bottle of Vieux Vignoble for Mr. Wali, which will be ready for you to present to him upon your arrival in Nasarawa,” Brandon said.

“That’s great, thank you. Get Matt Harrington on comms and tell him to come to the office as a matter of urgency,” I said.

“Okay, will do,” Brandon replied.

“That’ll be all for now, Brandon, thank you. So, guys, you both ready?” I asked

“What, for the AU? Of course, Dom. Great weather, good food… what else can a man ask for? We should definitely squeeze time in for a bit of R and R, right?” Chris said.

“Of course, all work and no play, right Chris?”

“Definitely. But, hey Alex, you gotta take it easy on the local booze when we get there. That stuff is lethal,” Chris said.

“Hey, I learned my lesson last time okay, I had a hangover for months!” Alex said.

“Ha-ha, that’ll teach you.” Chris said.

“On a more serious note… Dom, we made Jason disappear, and his body won’t be found. Do we need to worry about his wife making trouble about him being missing? I have a feeling he might have talked to his wife about our business. Do we need to worry?” Alex said.

“Nah, it’s okay, let’s leave her be, she has suffered enough,” I replied.

“Okay, I just don’t want things to take a turn for the worse. Am I being paranoid?” Alex asked.

“Just a bit,” Chris said.

“Why do you say that, Chris?” asked Alex.

“If Jason’s wife knows who we are, then she knows the score—she won’t say a word. Also, she’s entitled to Jason’s severance package; she wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize that,” Chris replied.

“Okay guys, let’s discuss Jason’s wife at another time; for now, we need to get Dahiru on the comms. We need to let him know we’ll be heading to Nasarawa in a couple of days, it’ll give him enough time to prepare,” I said.

We finalized everything with Dahiru. Matt Harrington turned up, and I asked him to do the extra checks on the tracking bracelet. He ran diagnostics on the device to make sure everything was okay in terms of configuration and connectivity. For the final touch, he programmed the bracelet with pre-set readings that would make it look as though I had never left the UNEA.

Chapter 25

Welcome to Fynnwood

Where: Raphael’s residence, Fynnwood, Miami

When: 0900 hours, Saturday, February 18, 2012

Currency: US dollar

The boys rang Raphael’s doorbell. He opened the door, again dressed extravagantly and draped in jewellery. As he let the boys in and turned around to head for the living room, Edwardo could see the bulge from what appeared to be a pistol tucked into Raphael’s belt.

“You always packing, Uncle Raphael?” Eddie asked.

“Oh, you can tell?” replied Raphael.

“Ha-ha, yeah, the silk shirt doesn’t hide it very well,” Eddie said.

“Yeah, I need to remember that. But seriously though, I’ll keep this piece on me for the next six weeks. Selling drugs to low-lives requires you to stay tooled up, because you never know when someone will decide to test you,” Raphael said.

“Yeah, I know that too well,” said Eddie.

“Sorry Edwardo, I didn’t mean to…” Raphael realising he might have struck a nerve, but Eddie cuts him off.

“Nah, it’s cool, I’m okay now. My dad is gone, and there is nothing anyone can do about that. Do I feel like he would be alive today if he had a gun with him that night, or if he had security to protect him? Of course, but what’s done is done. We have to move on,” Eddie said.

“Your dad would be proud if he could see how you’ve handled everything so far. Anyway, welcome to Fynnwood! Today, we’ll have to pack guns, move weight and we deal with a few undesirables. But by the time we’re done, we’ll have enough money to venture into other businesses and eventually I can say goodbye to this hellhole,” said Raphael excitedly.

“Indeed, uncle. Where is Aunty Angelina?” asked Eddie.

“She’s taken the kids out shopping, and they’ll be going to the movies after that,” said Raphael.

“Is she okay with all this?” asked Eddie.

“She doesn’t have much of a choice, Edwardo. She likes to go shopping, for herself and for the kids. I think she knows that money don’t grow on trees, she knows I’m a hustler. I was a hustler when she met me, I’m a hustler now,” Raphael replied.

“Fair enough. Are you able to make sure she doesn’t mention what we are doing here to my mom?” Eddie said.

“Wives who come from where we come from generally don’t ask their husbands about business. They also don’t talk to other wives about their husbands,” Raphael said.

“I see,” Eddie replied.

“So, trust me when I say this: your mom isn’t going to find out about what we’re doing here. Besides, we’ll be out of here before Angelina and the kids get back and they won’t see a thing,” Raphael laughed.

“Ha-ha! Okay. Now, where do we start?” Eddie asked.

“I have arranged for a few low-level dealers I trust to buy the heroin from us at fifty percent above the wholesale price. They’ll still make a reasonable
