He opened his mouth to talk again, but his break was over. I walked quickly back to my bike and got started on the second leg of my journey.
Now I got up to about twenty miles per hour, he wasn’t screaming much anymore, but I could still see him try to curl up now and again. Not that it would do him any good. There was nothing that was going to help him. I banged him into trees, over hills, everywhere I could before I stopped again. I could see the clubhouse in the distance now, and this was going to be my last time stopping.
“So tell me, Lou. Do you have any last words, or are we going to drag this on longer?” I laughed at my drag pun.
“There are more.” He croaked, barely moving his mouth. The skin on one side of his face was almost completely gone, muscle and veins were gone. Dirt and debris now packed into the exposed flesh. His clothing had ripped off during the second stage of the journey, and there were long slash and gaping holes in various parts of his body, blood was seeping out at a slow pace. Only the dirt packed into his wounds, keeping the bulk of his blood in his body.
“What are you talking about more of what?”
He coughed, and a glob of blood shot out of his partially destroyed face, “More of you. There are more rooms. More animals locked in cages. Women. Children. Men. You may be out, but Ruby will never stop. Not all of them have guards like Roth.” He spoke slowly, his eyes sparkling at the mention of Roth.
He knew Roth had helped us. Even though he was a guard and had done his share to keep me locked up in that place, he was the best of the worse situation. I hoped he was still alive.
“Besides, look at you now. I am almost sure Ruby would take you on in my place. You're a murderous monster now. You live to cause pain now, accept it.”
I looked away; he was right. I was having the time of my life dragging him to his death. Nothing about the situation even the least bit troubling to me. What was troubling to me, though, was the fact he said there were more. I had never seen another prisoner, but there were times when Angel and I would be locked up for weeks at a time. Maybe Ruby had different prisoners for different things. I knew there always seemed to be a lot of guards around, and all of the homes that they stayed at were big enough to house other prisoners, but I’d never seen any of them. He could be lying trying to say anything that would keep him alive. The information wasn’t compelling enough for me to leave him breathing.
“Well, if there are others when I rip Ruby and Harrington’s head off, we’ll let them go. If not, I’ll still rip off their heads. It’s a win-win situation. Bye, Lou.” I said and turned back to my bike.
“No! No! Nico! Wait!” He wailed now, and he knew this was the end for him. I jumped on my bike and gunned it. Bring my baby up to sixty miles an hour with him still chained to the back. The biked groaned with the effort of towing along a grown man, but it did what I wanted it to do. I swerved and went over uneven terrain before I stopped in front of the clubhouse. Wire was out the front with Keeley. A look of love and happiness on his face. It fell off when he saw me and the body I’d been dragging behind me.
“Oh my god.” Keeley gagged and turned into Wire’s chest. “What the fuck is that?” She asked, pointing awkwardly at the body behind me.
“That’s Lou,” I answered casually.
“Keeley, go inside. Finish packing.” She darted around him, not once bothering to look back at me.
“Ink, what the fuck?” he looked over my shoulder at the man. “What the fuck?” he asked again, his voice rising slightly.
“What?” I parked my bike and began to undo the chain. The metal chain had caused a bit of torsion on the chassis. I would have to see if Maino could fix it. It didn’t look like there was that much damage, though.
“Ink!” Wire yelled at me. “What in the fuck are you doing with a man tied to your fucking motorcycle?”
That was a silly question, “Uh, I’m killing him.” I answered.
“I think a fucking bullet in the head would have done the trick? Don’t you?”
“No, not at all. This is one of the fucks who kept me locked up; he was my immediate guard. He could have let me go anytime he wanted, instead he joined in on the pain Ruby caused me. The fuck tried to feed me to sharks.” I glared at Wire, “No, a bullet to the head would not have done.”
Wire let out a breath and stepped around me to where Lou was lying lifeless on the ground. “Where the fuck are his arms?” He asked as he got closer to him.
I turned and walked to where he was standing.
I huffed in surprise, Lou was now armless. Both of the appendages were gone, and all that was left were some muscle and ragged tissue that used to connect them to his shoulders. “Huh, would you look at that, they must have fallen off somewhere.” I tilted my head to the side for a second, taking a mental picture of the image in front of me, and then I turned
