small window, moonlight falling upon her breasts. “I know in my mind I’m with you all, but… part of me wondered.”

“If the shadow was still in charge?” Pucky asked, knowingly.

“Exactly.” Sharon turned, eyes full of hope. “But after that, I don’t know, it’s like I don’t have doubts anymore. Like, as long as I’m with you all, there’s no way the shadow can ever take me again. I’m my own woman.”

“That’s the thing about light,” Elisa said. “When it’s complete, when your whole heart is lit, where can the darkness hide?”

Red frowned at her, then scoffed. “Oh my gods, enough with that enlightenment shit. Point is, Sharon, you got a good fuck. That’s all the enlightenment you need.”

We all had a good laugh at that, but then Sharon said, “No, I mean—yes, it was good—but I agree with Elisa. It’s more than that.”

Red shrugged.

“And on that note.” Pucky turned to Red in confusion. “Why’re you still holding out?”

“It’s okay,” I said, seeing hesitation in Red’s gaze. “I get it.”

“Do you?” Pucky scoffed. “I sure as hell don’t.”

“I’m—trying something new,” Red explained. “Trying to approach all this differently from the past.”

“For the first time, she wants it to mean something,” Elisa said, nodding to show she got it. “Good for you, Red. But don’t wait too long—at the rate we’re going, we might end up fucking the Protector to death and then—”

“Not funny,” I interrupted her. “Sometimes I think you’re damn close to actually doing so.”

Elisa chuckled, shrugged, and said, “Don’t worry, we could find a way to bring you back. Probably.”

It was my turn to frown, but she winked, then stood to get dressed.

“When it’s time,” Pucky said, slapping Red playfully on the ass, “make sure we’re there. I want to see the look on your face when he slides that gorgeous cock into your pussy after it tightens up from all this non-use.”

Red punched her playfully, an act that caused her still-bare breasts to shake and turn me on. Of course, it probably was enflamed by the fact that now I was imagining what our first time would be like.

She saw me staring, pursed her lips, then said, “Pervert” while jokingly covering herself and standing to get dressed.

“Is that even a thing?” I asked, dressing along with the rest of them. “I mean, could I be a pervert for looking, after what we just did?”

“You’re safe,” Sharon said, and then pulled at my pants before I had them up, to get another look at me. “See? Not perverted.”

I laughed, enjoying this more playful side of her.

When we were dressed again and met in the courtyard, Hekate was there staring off at the moon in the early morning sky. Purple lined the dunes in the distance, turning to dark blue above then shading to pink.

“You miss him, don’t you?” Pucky asked, teasingly.

Hekate grinned. “I heard you all in there… made me think of him is all.”

“And you’re right,” Elisa chimed in. “It’s time to get you started, so that doesn’t fall behind. You can make your way back to him?”

“Always.”

With that, she said her farewells and found a secluded spot to make a new portal form. Before long, we were watching her step through it, on her way to join Chris and go to fulfill their mission together. Mowgli would be there to show them the way, set it all up. I looked forward to one day returning to hear all about it.

After Bastet finished her tracking spell, we were all eager to be on our way. After exchanging money at a horrible rate, we bought our train tickets and some meat in baked bread for the journey. We ate those while the train started off, and before long were able to relax, enjoying our full bellies and recent victory.

But man was it slow.

The train felt like an endless journey compared to the speed of travel with portals, but I supposed magic was spoiling me in more ways than one. When I asked again about portals and why that wasn’t an option, Sekhmet explained it would mess with their tracking magic, though I thought I remembered something about how witch portals worked and it not being possible here anyway.

There was no dining car, but a grungy old man selling candies and what reminded me of tacos but were made with fluffy dough. Around lunch time we bought some of the latter and it was delicious, grease dripping down my chin as I gobbled the meat and dough up. Not quite as good as the ones we’d bought back at the village, but still damn good. Considering that travel like this had until recently been completely outside of my concept of reality, it was almost as unrealistic as the fact that I’d recently gotten a blowjob from Red Riding Hood or slept with the Swan Princess. Both very strange concepts in themselves, but here I was in actual Egypt!

Straining my eyes to catch a glimpse around, all I saw was desert and the small towns we passed through. It continued on like this, with the most interesting sight aside from sand being the way several sheep were hung and gutted along the side of the street, viewable from the train when it stopped to take on several new passengers.

As I leaned back to finally get some sleep, I noticed Sekhmet eyeing me while Sharon and Pucky slept. Red was on lookout, while Elisa was petting Bastet (a weird action, I thought, considering the fact that the cat was actually Sekhmet’s sister).

“Hoping to see the pyramids?” Sekhmet asked.

I shrugged in response, but then muttered, “We’re all the way here…”

“Unfortunately, we won’t. If we caught a bus, it would be easy enough. But something tells me we’re not here for tourism.”

“That something being me,” Elisa said, glancing up from the cat.

Sekhmet smiled. That was a nice look on her, when her face was in human form like at that moment. “They’re truly breathtaking, though there are many sights here unknown to most
