When she finally calmed down enough to open her eyes, she glanced down to see that her Dress was the calming light-blue she usually tried to maintain, and she suddenly felt a little better. Looking around, she saw that the other Council Members were staring at her except for Malachite, who was staring intently at the Core Map. Of Azalea, there was no sign ā she mustāve followed my orders, then.
āI think I may have to get in touch with our counterparts on the other side,ā the Council Leader said slowly. Lilyās calm state of mind allowed her to refrain from gasping in surprise, but the others on the Council werenāt quite as composed as she was.
āDonāt you think thatās a little dangerous?ā Lily asked, knowing exactly what he was proposing.
āWell, yes, itās dangerous. But it might be the only way weāll be able to figure out whatās going on here,ā he said sadly. Lily could well understand that, though, because there was a good chance that he wouldnāt come back from such a meeting. āItās time to contact the Conclave of Sages.ā
It was drasticā¦but then again, if they didnāt do something soon, it wouldnāt really matter, would it?
* * *
Tacca was surprised when she heard and sensed Shale Translocate into her Core Room not too long after he left.
āThat was fast ā how did it go?ā
Shale looked confused but happy for some reason. āIt didnāt really even go; I didnāt even get a chance to give my full report to Lily, only a basic account of your situation to some other Council Representative there. I had the feeling that something else major was going on, so I got brushed off and told to stay here indefinitelyā¦as long as your development was progressing well, of course.ā
āAnd do you think my development is āprogressing wellā?
Her Dungeon Assistant looked up as if he was thinking really hard. āWellā¦Iām not an expert or anything, but Iād say youāre progressing even better than any other Dungeon Core in history,ā he said with a smirk. āGranted, I could be a bit biased ā with you being my Bonded and all.ā
āAre you ready for all the Raiders coming our way?ā
āOf courseā¦I wouldnāt miss it for all the luck in the world.ā

Authorās Note
Thank you for reading The Dungeon Fairy!
I hope you enjoyed this first step in Taccaās journey as a Fairy turned Dungeon Core. I really wanted to explore what would happen in this situation; too many times a Core is reliant on someone else to teach them how to do things or stumble through it on their own. With the Fairy being a Core, however, I thought it would be a unique take on what she could do when she already knew everything ā or almost everything, as she had learned with Shale as her new Dungeon Assistant at the end.
This is just the beginning, of course. Iām planning on the next book introducing all those āhordesā of Raiders that are clamoring to delve through her dungeon; unlike some of my other recent books, Tacca isnāt afraid to kill Raiders as part of her growth plan. Check out the second book later this year ā thereāll be more dungeon creation and defense, more creatures, more Abilities, and more development of the Hill Dwarf duo, Sterge and Gwenda!
Again, thank you for reading and I implore you to consider leaving a review ā I love 4 and 5-star ones! Reviews make it more likely that others will pick up a good book and read it!
