Which keeps me from writing what I would shout loud.
Freak Show
Welcome to the freak show,
We all belong, don't you know
We're all a bit strange on our own
Got a blind man to lead us,
A cannibal to feed us...
Taste just like chicken we've been shown.
Hear the man with no heart
Tell how lover's never part,
Just the beginning of the show,
The dirty boy will cleanse you
Of all the sin that's in you
And take your money when you go.
And here in the freak show
Are wise men with no soul
So they want you to sell your own
But no one wants to leave here
'Cause sanity is unclear
And madness can go to the bone.
Nearly Perfect
Sometimes you're a lady, sometimes you're a child
Since I met you baby, my heart's been running wild
Sometimes I'm a man, sometimes just a boy
But with you hand in hand, we both can enjoy
Being young, being old, being just what we are,
And with your hand to hold, I can follow that star
'Cause you're nearly perfect to me
As nearly perfect as ever I did see
You give me love like I never thought could be,
Yes, you're nearly perfect to me.
They say things about you they think I should know
I can't live without you, and I tell them so
They say things about me, things that I've done
But one thing about me, I still can have fun
Holding hands, taking walks, and wishing on a star
Sharing dreams, having talks, just being where you are
'Cause you are nearly perfect to me.
In Love
In love, the weak become strong,
Any sound becomes a song,
A melody played upon the heart's strings--
In love, there is beauty in all things.
A sunset or a sunrise
When seen through a lover's eyes
Seems to take on a brighter hue
In love, all things become brand new...
And, with you in love with me,
How bright will my life then be...
Come the day when this life is no more
And I'm standing on that distant shore
'Fore entering in Heaven's gate
Upon you I shall wait
So I may be passing through
Forever in love with you.
When You Have To Let Them Go
I listened to Tim McGraw sing his song
And wondered how he got it wrong
About moments that come and seem to stop time
When we look death in the eye
Is when we say good-bye
All the while thinking that life has committed a crime
And we know never again
Will our life be the way it has been
When that hits you
And you know that it is true
What can you do?
Take time to say "I love you"
Do what someone else wants to do,
Give, expecting nothing in return...
Don't worry 'bout "should",
Do it if it's good
Speak the words you take for granted that they know
Remember that any day may be the day
When you have to let them go.
Let someone else be the one that is right
If you think that will stop a fight,
Share all your laughter but don't be afraid to cry.
Don't wait until someone is missin'
And then spend all of your time wishin',
Thinking about things you could have said and done...
Don't let a moment unnoticed pass--
What if this moment were the las'
And you will never again look into their eye...
Tomorrow doesn't exist
Today is eternity and all that we really have is this
How To Murder
How do you commit a murder?
How do you kill him or her?
Maybe with a gun
But that's no fun,
So, of all the rest
Which one's the best?
A butcher knife
Can take a life,
Any old poison
Can do you in
You could let them smother
While yelling for mother,
Run over them with a car
That will kill them whoever they are
Or push them off a cliff
And kill them in a jiff,
But if you don't want to get caught
I've the answer you've saught...
Cross your fingers, hold your breath
And hope to God you can scare them to death.
What They Thought They Knew Then
She would say “I love you”
He would echo in reply
Or he would say good night
Or he would say good-bye.
Neither knew what happened
Or even where or when,
But they wish they knew now
What they thought they knew then.
For once their love was strong
And once their love was so right
And they knew they belonged
Just holding each other tight.
Once, he sent her flowers,
And, O, how she loved to dance,
They would sit and talk for hours...
Now each wants a second chance.
How they wish they knew now
What they thought they new then...
If only they knew how
To start over again
For they are both losing
And neither can say why...
When she said “I love you”
He just echoed in reply.
Maybe neither's to blame;
There is no right or wrong...
Just that nothing does remain
Of a love once so strong.
Who can tell what happened
Or even where or when?
But they wish they knew now
What they thought they knew then.
The Sun
The Sun comes up and makes its way
Cross the sky each and ev'ry day
The Sun is hot and rain is wet
No way anyone could forget
But are we grateful for the Sun
That has shown when a day is done?
That same Sun shall shine tomorrow
To our joy or to our sorrow
Just as it did shine yesterday,
Always has been – will be that way
To have a day without the Sun
Is something that cannot be done
So I suppose it matters not
That most never give it a thought.
Once for granted we take one thing,
Pretty soon we have a whole string
And so blessings go by unseen...
So, let us keep memories green
And each day give thanks that the Sun
Rose just like it has always done.
Thank You
Without happiness, there is no loss,
Love often has a cost
But e'en in times of pain
Memories still remain
And so many memories have I
Of times with sunny sky
'Fore the storm clouds rolled in
And my pain did begin,
Times when laughter rang and it was my own...
How blessed was I this to be shown.
So, let the storm clouds come, let the thunder roll,
For memories of true love fill my soul
And no storm can there be
Which could e'er hope to take that from me
With mem'ries of the sun,
All the laughter and fun
The storm I shall wait out
And my soul shall all of it's love loudly shout
So I thank you
For the dreams that came true.
Such A Waste Of Time
It seems such a waste of time
As I go slowly out of my mind
Each time that I hear your name, the pain starts
And I go slowly out of my mind
What if I were to tell you it was all my fault?
Would that help to bring whatever this is to a hault?
I only want it to be the way that it was before
But I know that time won't turn back, I can't get there anymore
And my life's a waste of time
As I go slowly out of my mind
And, yes, I think I have learned the lesson that I so needed to learn,
Love is a gift that must be given, it can never be earned
But once it is given, it is so very hard to let go
And once it's gone, bring down the curtain, it's the end of the show
It doesn't really matter who it was at fault
My life's been flipped over in a sad somersault
I only want it to be the way that it was before
But I know that time won't turn back, I can't get there anymore
And so, if I can dream of you, let me sleep never to waken again
If I can be with you in dreams, then let the dreams spin
But in dreams, I know that you will be gone when I awaken again.
Such a waste of time...
Social InSecurity
Work a job and they take out of your pay
A percentage for your retirement day
This money is safe, it is put away
The government has it, so it is okay
But meanwhile, since that money is there
The government is sure you won't care
It so happens they need it elsewhere
After all you will still get your share
It's not like you need that money today
And this country has bills it needs to pay
Where the money goes you need have no say,
The government has it, so it is okay...
As they begin to close the factories
And all the jobs go somewhere overseas,
Cut the teachers to teach the ABCs
And then the government begins to freeze...
The money just is not there, so they say
And this country has bills it needs to pay
But don't expect it to come back your way...
The government has it, so it is okay.
Sleeping Beauty
Once more the story of the beauty who slept...
There was so much sorrow, seems the world wept
And the legand of what it would take
To cause the maiden to awake
Nothing would do but true love's kiss
But what's this? Something is amiss
As in the background is heard evil laughter;
Seems there shall be no happily ever after
The time of fairy tales is no more
And love's kiss shall not restore,
So, sleep, fair maiden, in quiet peace,
I shall be with you 'fore your dreams cease.
My Seventeen
First met her she was seventeen
She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen
Felt so good when she would look my way
Made each day a brighter day
I never had the words to say
She got married
And all my love I just buried
All the while this flame I carried
For my beautiful seventeen
Prayer
Many times have I prayed for things which have not been granted
But still I believe none of those prayers have been in vain
For my prayers by no means make my life somehow enchanted --
Long as I take a breath there shall obstacles remain.
Perhaps things have not changed in the manner I wish them to
But through it all there can be no doubt that I have been changed
And that in itself may be the reason for going through
Situations because of which my life's been re-arranged
So perhaps it is true the prayer which I most need to pray
Is not one for some change in my life I wish be made
But more to understand how the obstacles in my way
Have been put there for some plan which God Himself has laid.
Paths
As I walked on my path one day
Saw another along the way
Seemed to me he'd gone astray
Thought something I had to say
He cared nothing of these words from me
And asked that I just let him be.
Another path was overgrown
Where seeds of doubt had been sown
I thought perhaps he should be shown
His path could be more like my own.
Took my words with a laugh
As he continued down his own path
So I went back to my path once
