didnt even notice Josh was following me.
"Want me to walk you to your locker?" Thinking about it, I didnt really mind if he did.
"Sure, If you want." Again he just smiled. For whole time to took it took to get to me locker, we just talked about school. I dont get why he wants to hang out with me so much if he has so many other friends. And if his best friend is Joey White. Maybe what he said before was true to him. Maybe different people are fun. Maybe I'm an awsome person, I just havent had the chance to show it.
P.O.V - Joey
I walked into my next class and found Josh sitting in his seat like always. And I looked into the back of the class and found Dakota there with her book. Usual as well. I sat down next to Josh. "What happened?" He looked up at me.
"Hey, bro. Well, she's pretty cool."
"Tell me 'bout her."
"Well. She said she didnt have any friends. And thats why she's always sitting alone. She hates gossip. With a burning passion she does, I swear." He laughed a bit. "While I was walking her to her locker she said that the reason she loves books is because she hates the real world and the way everything is. The way people are. So she reads to get away from it all."
"Anything else?" He thought for a second.
"Actually, yes. I brought up how we were best friends and she asked me if you were a jerk. She just kinda guessed because you know, you're the captin of the football team. And the team is full of jerks." I sighed, layed my arms on the desk and then my head on my arms. "Dont worry, I told her you were one of the nicest guys I knew. And thats the truth." I smiled.
"Well now I just feel fantastic." I laughed and looked to the back at her. Just reading. Wonder if she's enjoying the book. I wonder if she wishes she was home. Or.. in the library. Where its quiet. I thought for a second and looked back at Josh. "She said she reads to get away from things, thats corect?" He nodded. Maybe I'll go to the library and get something to read. Who knows, maybe I'll love reading. Maybe I could get to know Dakota myself and we could read together. That would be awesome..
P.O.V - Dakota
The next two classes went by fast. I was really into the book I was reading. After the last class I went to my locker. I didnt have any homework. So I just threw all my books in there and grabed my bag and my book. And with that I closed my locker, locked it, and walked out of that horrible place. Today I met a friend. Or so I hope a friend. Why did he talk to my anyway? He is popular. I took my iPod out of my bag and put my headphones in my ears and hit play. Without The Bitter The Sweet Isn't As Sweet by Mayday Parade came on. I sang to my favorite part quietly. "Maybe it will all work out like in the movies. But I know Romeo must die before the ending. With a finial poison kill delivered gently, because you dont get lucky twice and thats the truth.~"
"You have a great voice." I jumped, fell over and looked up at who said it. Joey White? "I'm sorry.. Did I scare you?" I nodded. "Sorry. I didnt mean to." He held out his hand and helped me up.
"Thanks, Joey." I smiled a bit. Josh said he was nice, so I dont have to worry. Right?
"So uh, whats up? Walkin' home?" I nodded and picked up my iPod from the ground and slid it into my pocket. "Thats cool.. What were you listening to?"
"Mayday Parade. They're one of my favorite bands. And thats one of my favorite songs. What do you listen to?"
"Mostly like, Escape the Fate, Seeping with Sirens, and Asking Alexandria." I smiled at him.
"I love all of those bands. Those, Mayday Parade, All time low, Boys like Girls.." I looked over at him. "You dont really care, do you?" He smiled.
"No.. I like listening to you talk. I like your voice." I blushed. "And hey, your name is Dakota right? I love that name. Its so.. different. I've never heard that name before."
"Yeah well. I am different." I smiled and thought about what Josh said. "And your friend Josh pointed out to me that being different isnt bad. Its more exciting. Because everyone is so like, the same."
"Well he's right. Everyone in our school is so grouped. I'd love to stay out of the crowed. But I love football. So I ended up getting grouped with them. I'd like to think that I still have myself inside somewhere, though. Actually only with Josh I'm myself. And.. you. Right now." He smiled.
"Well I can tell that you're different from all the other jocks. Any of the others would have tripped me or something. And ignored me when I fell." He sighed.
"They can be mean, cant they? I really dont hang out with them much but in school and anything football related. Josh told me he was gonna ask you if he could sit with you this week. Maybe I'll join you guys sometime soon." He popped his gum and smiled at me.
"I'd like that.. I never really have anyone sit with me. I never really said this, but it does get lonley back in my corner." I giggled. "Oh well." He just smiled as we walked. I never thought I'd have a normal conversation with Joey White. Or a conversation at all, really. In a few minutes we got to my house. "Well. Thanks for walking me home."
"No problem. Its on my way. I live down the street there." He pointed. If you ever need me I'm pretty sure Im only like 7 houses away. I live in the blue house in between the two brown houses." I nodded. And when I went to walk up to my door, my mom came out crying and walking to her car. Oh great...
"Mom..?" She looked up at me.
"Oh dear.. Hello, Kota. I'm sorry. I dont want to worry you. I'm fine." She looked behind me at Joey. "Hello, you must be one of Dakota's little friends, nice to meet you, I'm Mrs. Ace, her mother." She walked over to us, and held out her hand to Joey. He shook it and smiled.
"I guess you could say I am one of her little friend." I blushed at that and looked away. "I'm Joey White. Its nice to meet you, too. Well I should be heading home now. Buh bye, Dakota." He smiled and waved at me. I smiled and waved back.
"Well he seems nice, Kota. Like him?" She smiled sy my blushing face.
"N-No Mom! I really just started talking to him today." She shrugged her sholders and took my hand.
"Lets go inside, hun." I smiled at her and we walked up the steps and into the house. I looked around for my dad to find him in the kitchen looking for a beer. "There's none left. dumbass. You drank them all!" He glared at my mom.
"Dont talk to me that way, woman. Get to cleaning up." She sighed and looked around, letting go of my hand. She went right to picking up old beer cans. I just ran up the stairs to my room and did all my homework. When I was done with that I took out my phone. My parents dont get that I dont really need this. I dont text anyone. I dont really have any friends. I smiled to myself. Well.. Now I do. Two. And two of the most popular boys in the school.
Chapter 3: Oh Dear

In the morning, I took my shower and ate some toast. I then went up to my room again and went looking though my clothes. I picked out some light blue skinny jeans and a Mayday Parade t-shirt. I quickly changed and brushed my hair. I was lucky, I dont have to do anything to it. And with that, I grabbed my bag and ran down stairs and put on my vans and jacket. Then I walked out the door. I was surprised to see Josh and Joey standing there. I blushed and waved. "W-What are you guys doing here?" They just both laughed
"We're gonna walk to school with you." Joey said.
"We called each other last night," Josh went on, "And we were talking about how we should come and pick you up to walk with you." I smiled then giggled.
"What would you have done if I left already?" I yawned and walked to them. "Whatever, doesnt matter. Lets get to school." And with that, we walked. The walk to school was pretty much no fun at all. I cant really blame them, though. The morning sucks. We were all yawning and wiping sleep out of out eyes. But I'm sure everyone up for school right now was doing the same thing.
