Meeting in the Light of the Moon

  Kim drove up to the gates of the cemetery, and was overcome with a feeling of joy, mixed with fear, when she saw Blake’s silhouette, at the top of the hill. She felt joy at the thought of having just one more chance to say she was sorry, and hopefully begin a new life. A life free from the stink of the street, and the slimy embrace from the reptiles that paid her for, as she thought to herself, what they mistakenly call love. True love, she now understood, was falling into the arms of another, with no fear of unmasking oneself, for the world to see.

  She ran to Blake, as he stood at the top of the hill with the moonlight to his back. She could see cuts and bruises all over his face. His jacket was shredded, and his jeans had a large and small lakes of dried blood that appeared black in the glowing light of the moon. She approached him cautiously with her head held low. The words escaping her as she came closer to the man she loved now more than she ever felt before.

  Blake stepped closer her and wrapped his arms around her. Both lovers held each other tight without speaking a word, as their bodies slowly flaked away, like moonlit months scattering into the light of the beautiful moon.
