âBut there are humans back home.â Her heart beat quickened when she said âhomeâ.
âNo, there arenât. Thatâs our town, the humans can sense something is a little bit off with it so they just pass by.â He told her lightly and grasped her hand. They continued to walk until the smell of cotton candy and hot dogs hit her nose. There were small little booths everywhere, some of them were hand tossing games, others had to do with water. She pulled Thomas over to the cotton candy machine and frowned until he bought her one. The man made hers so fluffy that she couldnât fit in her mouth. Doesnât mean she didnât try though, she opened her mouth as far as it could go. She just couldnât seem to get it, so she ripped a piece off and ate it. Thomas smirked at her with amusement and, not very lady like, she stuck her tongue out. Bad move on her part, with speed only a werewolf could have he kissed her tongue. He licked off all the sweet, sticky sugar from her tongue and left her panting. She narrowed her eyes on him.
âI donât like it when people stick their tongue out at me, just thought Iâd let you know that buttercup.â He shrugged and then walked toward a water game. She stayed back, though, ripping another piece of cotton candy off and in deep thought. Sheâd just learned another fact about her mate, maybe these dates were a good thing.
She sure did look surprise when he did what he did. Probably because heâd used his speed. Or probably because heâd sucked her tongue. One could never know with Molly these days. He sat down at one of the stools and looked behind him, she walked forward slowly and he smirked.
âAfraid you gonna get smoked princess?â he taunted and she flared back to life. She rushed over to him, the best way a pregnant lady could, and sat in the stool next to him.
âPssh, you wish. Youâre gonna wish you never said those words.â She said and shot a glare at the woman who was working this stool. She looked at him appreciatively and he smiled a polite small. Not the smartest move in the world. A little sound of outrage came from next to him but he didnât want to see the damage heâd done.
âA race for two please.â He said politely and took out a ten. She took it and made sure to brush her hand against his, the blond then smiled and winked at him. Oh if only she knew the dangers behind that. A sharp bell sounded and Molly squeezed her water gun tightly, the poor contraption straining under her pressure. She won and he wasnât surprised that she didnât gloat to him about it. She pointed to a giant stuffed wolf as her prize and the girl got it for her. Molly all but snatched the wolf out of the poor girlsâ hand. Thomas sighed and took his change.
âThanks.â He mumbled and she giggled as if it was the funniest thing sheâd ever heard.
âNo problem hot stuff.â He groaned internally, did she really not know the fire she played with by talking to him. No you dummy, his wolf groaned, sheâs human she doesnât feel Mollysâ anger like we do. That wasnât an excuse, even a human would be able to sense the connection between them. Maybe her survival skills are lacking, his wolf snorted and Thomasâ head was snatched by his hair. Mollysâ lips slammed down onto his with a small growl. Before he could kiss her back, though, she let go of him and shot a look at the blond.
âIâm going to the skee ball booth.â She said lightly and she bounded off.
âShe didnât have to be rude about it.â He opened his mouth to say something but she cut him off.
âLeave, before I do something I will regret.â Her wolf growled to him and he shut his mouth and walked away without another word to the girl. He followed her scent to find her there, her prizes stuffed under her arm, waiting for him at the skee ball booth.
âI find it disappointing that I have to remind you to leave and not say something bad.â She teased and he surged his mouth to hers. She moaned and dropped her presents, wrapping her arms around his neck. He pushed her against the booth curtain and deepened the kiss. She broke apart from the kiss gasping for air and blushing. Thomas wouldnât stop though, he kissed her neck and licked her claiming mark, making her gasp out loud. The people passing blushed as they saw what they were doing and blushed, some laughed, others pretended not to care. He didnât care though, the taste of her was just too intoxicating.
âThomas, weâre⊠out, inâŠ. public.â She gasped and pushed him away lightly, he growled and nipped her neck but obliged and backed away. Her face was bright with crimson red and her eyes were specked with flakes of amber. Showing just how close she was to going wolf.
âLetâs wait for that, k?â She asked lightly and picked up her prizes.
âLetâs put these in the car, shall we?â he asked lightly and took them from her. They traveled to the car, where he put her prizes in the backseat, then made their way back over to the skee ball booth. His wolf howled in pleasure when he saw that Mollysâ face stayed itâs crimson color.
That was embarrassing, of course she was glad that she showed that bitch what was hers but, it was still embarrassing. She heard his wolfsâ howl of pleasure and that made her face burn even more. People shot her amused looks, some faces were brighter than hers. They made it to the booth and Thomas paid for her, she wasnât all the best at skee ball, but she refused to lose anything to him. He won the game, naturally, and gloated his cute little ass off. She rolled her eyes all the way to the hotdog stand.
âOk, Ok you won! Now take your stupid frilly pink monkey and shove it up your-â A little girl bumped into her and looked up with grey eyes.
âEr, shove it up your mouth.â She said slowly and the girl blinked up at her.
âShouldnât you be heading to your mom?â she asked lightly. The girls eyes teared up and fear spiked in Mollysâ heart. She had offended the poor girl! Waas she an orphan, had her mother died?!
âI canât find them, miss, Iâve looked everywhere.â The girl cried and latched on to Mollysâ dress, instantly her heart melted.
âAww, well let me help you.â Molly said and then summoned her wolf. She put two fingers on her lip and let out a deafening whistle that stopped everybody.
âListen up you lot,â She yelled, bring her wolf back in a little, just enough so her eyes didnât shine amber.
âThere is a little girl here. She has grey eyes, blond hair, and is wearing a yellow dress. If this is your child, step up and claim her!â Everyone looked around but no one stepped up. She shot a worried look at Thomas and he stepped up. She could feel his wolf being called up, the Alpha being pulled to him.
âIf you are this girlsâ parents, step forward now!â they all felt his power, they felt the pull of power. But still nobody stepped forward.
âThomas I donât think her parentsâ are here.â Molly whispered and hugged the sobbing little girl closer to her. He cursed under his breath and dismissed the humans.
âWe have to go home.â He muttered as he picked up the girl. Molly looked around and nodded quickly. They speed walked to the car and put the girl in the back, Molly hopped in next to her and hugged the girl closer to her body.
âSweetie can you tell me what your name is?â Molly asked and the girlsâ grey eyes looked up to her.
âMy name⊠my name is Mary.â She whispered, her small pink lips quivering.
âDo you know why your parents left you there, alone?â Thomas asked from the drivers seat as he turned around a bend.
âThomas!â Molly hissed as the girl nearly broke out into tears.
âI donât know. They were acting weird because of what I did. Then they brought me some cotton candy, and told me to wait for them by the hot dog booth. But they⊠they never came back!â She sobbed her story into the crook of Mollysâ arm.
âSweetheart, what did you do?â Molly asked slowly, the girl looked up slowly and her eyes did something that made her wolf howl with fury. They flicked to amber with grey specks in them.
âI turned into a dog.â Chapter 21
His wolf howled with anger and rage, which was not a good thing. Angry, snapping wolves donât really have the title for being friendly. He pushed down on the gas and they were at his fatherâs house within ten minutes. Molly helped the girl inside while he cooled off.
âEveryone at my fatherâs house, now.â He growled through the pack link and he got several answering howls. He took a calming breath and entered the house.
âYou want a snicker bar?â he heard Molly ask and he smiled as he walked into the kitchen.
âNot everybody wants or eats a snicker bar, Molly.â He told her and the girl giggled. Molly frowned at him and bit the snicker bar.
âScrew you pal.â She sneered into his head and he had to hold back a grin. He sat down across from Mary and she looked up at him. He saw her wolf come out a little and he smiled softly.
âTell her Iâm not going to hurt her. Sheâs safe here.â He told her and her eyes flashed amber.
âShe says that, she trusts you. You are Alpha, so she trusts you.â She stuttered and Molly sat down next to him with an industrial size jar of pickles and two snicker bars. She slid one across the table to Mary and raised a brow. Uh oh, his wolf groaned and Thomas closed his eyes. This was a test, if Mary opened and ate the snicker , her wolf would accept her. But, however, if she didnât⊠well, things could get really bad, really fast. Surprisingly Mary opened it and ate it as if it was the finest gourmet food. Sheâs eating like a starved wolf, his wolf growled threateningly.
âWhen was the last time you ate anything?â Molly asked and Mary swallowed nervously.
âA-at the carnival, r-remember?â She stuttered and he growled low in his throat, making Molly slap his arm.
âNot helping anything.â She hissed and looked back to Mary.
âAnd before that?â Molly asked and Mary blanched, she tapped her finger on the table and her breathing quickened.
âLast week?â She said and winced when Molly gasped.
âThey starved you?!â Molly screeched, her wolf howling in his mind.
âT-they said I-I was a m-monster. They d-didnât want me to h-hurt anyone. So I-if I didnât, I w-wasnât a danger to a-anyone.â She explained, stuttering, tears coming to her eyes. As much as it angered him he couldnât do anything about it, what was done was done.
