“Rohit Da, one day the truth will come on its own and even Aunty will understand that whatever you did was just in a fit of rage. Anyone in your position would have done the same. She cheated on you just for her own sake. God will definitely punish her for that.”
“Leave it Avani, I have no feelings for her anymore, neither good or bad. But I thank you for being very supportive. Though I am no one and she is your sister, still you took my side. I owe this to you.”
“Oh Rohit Da stop being formal…. You are my darling bro!!! So what you could not become my Jiju… I will find a much better match for you.”
“Thanks my little princess… by the way did she told you anything regarding this.”
“No she didn’t. You don’t worry now I am not scared of her and I will soon kick out Vimal from our house as well. My Mom knows everything even she was shock to know about their affair.”
“Oh Avani please don’t sour your relation with Sakshi and her family just because of me. Whatever happened was just between two of us. I don’t want to be a reason for conflict between two families.”
“No Rohit Da, it’s not because of you don’t blame yourself. Rather I should be blame for this. Actually it all started because of me.”
“What do you mean by that?? How could you be blamed??”
“Rohit Da, it all started because I took her to Kharagpur. Remember we had gone to visit our relative there some time around September last year? This is how they met and all these started. And last time during December when we had again gone to Kharagpur two days later after Sakshi’s birthday. It was just because Vimal insisted her. I should have told you these things before in hand but I got busy with my board exam preparations.”
So I was right???? Sakshi’s visit to Kharagpur last time was premeditated and she intentionally hided all these things from me. They were having affair since long and she was equally with me as well. She didn’t broke ties with immediately because she wanted to save her clean image as well. It was all meticulously planned and executed by her.” I said recalling all those events.
“Yes…I am sure she did it the same way.” Avani asserted.
“Anyways now things are pretty clear to everyone who was the actual victim and who conspire this, there is no point of digging it any further. All this became possible because you insisted me that I should check her phone and it’s because of that only I could find the real reason behind all this. Before that I was cursing myself for all that happened. If Sakshi ditched me now she could have done that even after marriage. I would have definitely hacked her to death, if she had cheated on me after marriage. You really saved me from becoming a murderer. I now feel at peace you, saved my life; I really owe this to you… My little princess.”
“Ohh common Rohit Da stop feeling awful anymore. Just forget everything and start a new life with new enthusiasm. A bright future is waiting to embrace you. I know you deserve much better in life. And don’t forget me, just because you called off your relation with Sakshi.”
“My little princess…how can I forget you ever? I promise I will always keep in touch.”
“Thanks my Sweet Bro!!!! Bye and take care.”
“Bye !!! You take care too.” I said and disconnected the call.
My house kept on haunting me with her old memories; the days which we had spent together in this house, our second anniversary, our first Diwali and many more memories. Beside that Kaki Ma used to ask me occasional about Sakshi , why she was not coming these days? I had to fib her every time that she was out of town. So finally after few weeks I shifted from there to my new 2bhk flat at Mall Road, the place near my old hostel area. Sanjeev helped me this time with my shifting. I tried to discard everything that reminded me of hers; I sold my television, refrigerator and other household items as well. I had new curtains, new photo frames; I changed everything that was possible. Each and every moment that I had spend with her was now just a memory…neither good nor bad. Though till date I remember everything but it doesn’t affect me anymore. As it is said time is a great healer, so slowly I also started getting back in my life in my new house.
I could hear the chanting from the nearby puja pandal still continuing on the background. There was a loud thunder sound and it woke me from my dream. I viewed outside from my window there were black clouds all around the sky and the bright morning was turned into a dark afternoon and soon it started raining heavily. I took my hand out from the window and felt the water droplets…it was really soothing, now I have learnt to find solace in every small things around me. It’s said, time is the best healer and with each passing year I have become emotionally more and more strong. I came back to bed, I was having a bad headache, I had a too much last night and yesterday’s confrontation with Sakshi started revolving around my eyes. “Why the hell was she back in Kolkata??? And above all what does she wants from me after 4 years.” I said to myself.
The Final Conclusion:
I switched on my mobile back. There were two messages. One from Sanjeev and one from unknown number. I open to read it.
“I know what I did to you was unpardonable
and you don’t even want to see my face
Still I request you to forgive me…please !!!!
It was her again I deleted her message immediately from my cellphone. I check the other message from Sanjeev.
Why is your cellphone off??
Call me once you receive my message.
I ringed Sanjeev back,
“Hey Sanjeev??? Sorry I had kept my cellphone off. So what were you upto???”
“Rohit, I was calling since morning to give you a news, you won’t believe it Man. I saw Sakshi today while returning from market, I have heard that she is having trouble in her married life and so she has come back to her Mom’s place to stay.”
“Yeah, I know she is back. I met her last night.” I replied in softness.
“Whattt??? You met her. How and when??” He asked in astonishment.
“Yeah, I met her in Golden Park yesterday night when I was there with Ankit having drinks. You come to Ankit place in the evening I will tell you everything in details.” I said to end the call as my headache was just killing from inside.
“Is everything ok? You sound low Man??” He enquired.
“Yeah I am fine? Just minor hangover of last night.”
“Okay Let’s catch up at 6:00 pm.”
“Okay sure.” I said and disconnected the call.
