Then settled down under my duvet with the others to watch the film after receiving a âshut the hell upâ look from Bree. I only remembered about half way through the second film that I was still holding my drink, âDo you want this?â I asked Gabriel holding up my drink
âNo thanksâ he whispered âwant me to put it on the side?â he asked quietly
âPleaseâ I said giving him a quick smile âthanksâ I said as he took it from me and put it on my bedside table,
he rolled on to his side to face me then whispered âevery one looks very busyâ, I looked around at Kiah and Willow who were both snuggled up kissing quietly then I looked round at Bree who was entirely engrossed in the film and then at Demitri who was snoozing against her shoulder. âDo you want people to know?â asked Gabriel
âKnow what?â I muttered in his ear
âThat you love meâ.
I shrugged then said âIâm tiredâ to avoid answering the question and rolled over to face the other way to hide my embarrassment.
Chapter Four
It was late Sunday evening and I was finally on my own, Bree had persuaded me and every one else to watch all twenty Disney films she had brought with her which took all of Saturday and most of Sunday morning. I do love having my friends over donât get me wrong but all I wanted now was a chance to do stuff by myself, catch up on the house work and my book, I was reading a book called âHang manâs Legacyâ which was about a man who had been accused of murdering six people and was hung for it, but survived because his friend who was a surgeon placed a tube down his throat so when the rope was meant to constrict his air way, it didnât and basically its how he saved other innocent people from getting hung, itâs a good book. It was early evening by the time I had finished the cleaning and I was just about to start reading my book when I heard a knock at the door, I put my book down and wandered over to open it, not expecting any one I said âwho is it?â
âItâs meâ said a voice from the other side of the door
âWho is me?â
âOh sorry, itâs Gabriel, can I come in now?â
I opened the door and said âGabriel itâs eleven in the evening, Iâm going to bed soon!â
âSorryâ he murmured âTime doesnât really mean anything to meâ
âWhat? Time means something to everyoneâ I said feeling a bit confused
âOh, yeahâ
âWhat do you want?â I asked him impatiently
âWell itâs just you seemed a bit quiet all weekend I just wondered if you are okâ
âYes Gabriel, im fine!â in truth I was still smarting from his rejection on Friday
âOk, if youâre sureâ
âYes, im sureâ I muttered glaring at him as I started to close the door
âWait a minute Lana, youâre not ok! What is the matter?â he sighed when I didnât answer âLana, I am your best friend if you canât trust me then who can you trust?â
âI will worry about that later, now can you please go now?â I know I was being rude to him but I was too hurt to care.
âFineâ he said frowning âIâll be here to pick you up in the morningâ and then he turned around and walked away.
I sighed shakily as I felt the tears develop again in my eyes and quietly went up the stairs to bed.
At what seemed a minute later I was being shaken awake âWhat!â I mumbled
âCome on, your late!â said a voice just to the right of me
âGabriel?â
âCome on!â he said shoving me
âOh yeah, schoolâ I muttered as I slowly got out of bed to go to the toilet, when I got back I found that Gabriel had laid out some clothes for me on my bed, taking a closer look I found that they were my new clothes
âYou promisedâ he reminded me seeing my face
âI donât care!â I grumbled âHow did you get in?â
âYou forgot to lock the doorâ
âAnd you think itâs ok to let yourself in to other peopleâs houses?â
âCome on, get dressed!â he said avoiding the question
âGo away then, so I can have some privacyâ I waited until he was down stairs then shoved the clothes that he laid out for me into the corner of my room and put on the same clothes I wore on Friday.
âCome on Lana, were going to be late!â shouted Gabriel from downstairs âwe have only fifteen minutes before class startsâ
âComingâ I said moodily as I turned off my light and ran down the stairs âYou are just like my dadâ I said as I arrived at the bottom of the stairs face to face with Gabriel who was holding my lunch which was in a brown paper bag and my baby brother, I took the brown paper bag off him and looked in it to see what he had packed and found a five pound note at the bottom âwhat was the point in the bag?â I asked
âI found it and thought I could put your lunch in to it, but there wasnât anything to put in to it so I gave you money insteadâ
âWhy do you have my brother? He canât come to school with usâ
âThe baby sitter isnât here and we canât leave him aloneâ
Feeling irritated that he was right because he was always right âYou are just like my dadâ I confirmed grumpily as I opened the door and then locked it as Gabriel followed behind me, âand you just reminded me that I need to go shoppingâ Luckily Linda arrived just as we headed out the door and took Dylan off Gabriel.
âSee you laterâ she called to me, It was a good decision to give Linda her own house key.
The first half of the school day went quickly and I was amazed when Gabriel was leading me to the canteen, âtoday has just flown byâ I stated to Gabriel as we walked towards our usual table with a tray of food. âMorningâ I said sitting down. I had decided to just forget Friday and get on with the day, its not really worth sulking about really, just because he didnât say I love you back to me doesnât mean anything.
âMore like afternoonâ corrected Bree âdid you enjoy the weekend? Because you had a face like a slapped arse all the time we were thereâ
âOh, err I wasnât feeling too goodâ
Gabriel looked at me as though he knew that was a total lie âYou feeling ok now?â he asked looking concerned.
âSure Iâm okâ I said looking around the table âWhere is Ruby?â
Everybody looked round towards the âGeekâ table, well thatâs what every one called them but I think theyâre really nice; I looked round and saw Ruby sitting there with them with the usual grimace on her face. âShe has found her true callingâ Grinned Kiah
Willow and Demitri snorted with laughter, and unluckily for Gabriel, Willow had just taken a mouthful of milk and therefore showering Gabriel with it as it sprayed out of his nose. âWill!â moaned Gabriel standing up
âSorry mateâ said Willow who was still laughing, then laughed even harder when he realised everyone else was laughing as well. âNot my faultâ he gasped âKiah made me laugh!â
âIt wasnât that funnyâ moaned Gabriel âIâm going to stink of milk for the rest of the day nowâ he groaned
âRelax Gabrielâ I said laughing as I grabbed a tissue to wipe the milk off his face. Then I looked at Willow âUrm Willowâ I said trying not to laugh as I handed him a tissue too âyou might want to wipe your noseâ, then everybody turned to look at Willow again and the laughter started up again as they watched a bit of milk drip out through his nose and land on the table.
âI honestly donât see why itâs so funnyâ grumbled Gabriel
âSit down and stop whiningâ I said tugging at his sleeve and jumped as I felt my phone vibrate in my skirt pocket, I slid it out to read âNew message from Breeâ I looked up at Bree who mouthed âread itâ, I opened the text and read âSo was really wrong? I know you werenât feeling illâ I rolled my eyes and text her back saying âI will explain it all later in mathsâ and pressed send then looked up at Bree and waited, after a few seconds she looked at me and nodded. Luckily every one else was involved in a deep conversation and didnât notice mine and Breeâs silent conversation.
âWellâ said Willow as the bell went âThat went quickâ
âYeah but you guys still had time to eat my lunchâ I said looking down at my tray which was empty and all I had eaten was two grapes.
âSorry Lanaâ I was hungry admitted Demitri
âYouâre always hungry, anyone would think your pregnant with the amount you eatâ Kiah sighed as she stood up âcome on you twoâ looking at me and Bree âWe have maths now, see you lads later,â
âMeet us at my carâ Gabriel shouted at us as we walked out. Bree waved to let him know that we heard him.
Bree pounced on me as soon as I had sat down âso what was wrong?â she demanded âand donât lie, I can tell when your lying, your face goes bright redâ
âBreeâ I mumbled âit really doesnât matterâ
âWhat?â said Kiah âwhat doesnât matter?â
âNothingâ I answered then in an attempt to change the subject I said âBree, did you see Will and Kiah, they were snogging all the way through âThe Lion Kingâ!â
âHeyâ said Kiah âyou were meant to be asleep!â
âYou and Will!â laughed Bree âyou two would make a great couple!â then she glared at Kiah âwhy didnât you tell me?â
âDidnât seem importantâ shrugged Kiah
Then to my disappointment Bree turned back to me and said âLana, come on I am a concerned friend trying to helpâ
I sighed knowing the only way out of this was the lesson coming to an end, but unluckily for me that was half an hour away âfine, okayâ I sighed, âwell I was showing him my new clothes, and then out of the blue he told me that he thought I was beautiful, me being me blushed and just said thanksâ
âLana! Gabriel, I take it you are talking about Gabriel right?â
âYeahâ
âGabriel is to die for and you said thanks when he told you he thought you were prettyâ
âBeautifulâ I corrected
âBeautiful whatever, donât tell me you messed it up for himâ Bree groaned
âNo Bree let me finish okâ
âOk, go on thenâ
âWell then he went and sat on my bed and asked me what I wanted to doâ then seeing their faces I added âin a non sexual way.â
âWait a second, what time was this?â asked Kiah
âI think
