a little weight, not eating because Ally made me move with them. I kept on staring not knowing that Piper came in and sat on my bed.
"What are you doing sissy?" She sat there in her pretty red checkered dress.
"I'm just looking at myself. What are you doing?"
"I am gunna look at myself too."
She started copying my every move as I looked in the mirror. We stayed in the room for another hour before my dad came in to talk to me.
"Piper, go see mommy she wants to see you."
She smiled and ran downstairs.
"Summer, I have to tell you something." His eyes were serious. Not in any joking way.
"Yeah?" I was now cleaning my already clean room.
"It's Kayla." My breathing stopped and I froze. "Her mom called me and told me that she is sick. She can't call you because she is at the hospital. I just wanted to tell you that she," He paused, trying to find the right words. "She has Leukemia."
"Your lying right? Yeah, your lying because you made me move here so she can be sick. So I can't see her and comfort her. You lying because she can't get sick like that." Tears started rolling down my face and I felt my hands get red hot. "She is my best friend. She can't get sick, she is stronger than I am. Make me get sick please." I wasn't yelling at my dad anymore I was more yelling at God rather than anyone else. "Please." I dropped to my knees really hard on the wooden floor. Covering my eyes from my dad, the world, everything. I pressed really hard on my lids, just so they would hurt. After awhile, I sat in my room. Looking at everything like I didn't recognize anything. I cried myself to sleep.


CALEB
I was at the foot of Kayla's hospital bed. She was sleeping, looking so peaceful, I was crying now, staring at her. The hair started falling out a few weeks after Summer left. She would always talk about us in her sleep.
