that stood out the most was the time Damian stole my first kiss, or the other way around.
"You can't go, not yet anyway. I'm not so ready yet." His voice cracked several times and it sounded as if it was painful to talk.
"Then just take in the moment, take in the memories of now."
He rapped both his arms around me as I held all the regret I had in my life. I brought it to my heart but felt like it would only be right if I told him. "You want to know what I would change?"
The crowd was in reaching distance, the time for running, even if token, was out of question. I sat in place with my fist holding on tightly to his red plaided shirt. "What?"
"I would change the way I never told you I love you." His head whipped up to look me in the eyes, his own open wide. His lips started to open and close like a fish out of water, but I couldn't hear anything but the feisty and blood hungry crowd that had us surrounded.
I felt their claw like nails on my delicate white skin as they tired and tear me from Damian's firm grip. He had no chance with him against them; I was pulled away like a broken rag doll. I didn't struggle or fight, I just simply let them take me, a smile on the whole time they dragged me away from him.
It was right to tell him, I could feel it. "I love you." I felt myself say, but couldn't hear. My smile turned to a full on grin. "I love you." I said even louder.
The last thing I saw was Damian as he tried with all his might to reach me before I blacked out being hit in the head.
I woke to intense heat and the uncomfortable feeling of rope twisted around my torso and hands. My legs where free and holding my weight slightly; the piece of wood I was tied to holing most of it. Slowly I openedmy eyes to a crowd with excitement an distaste clear in their gaze, all ready to start the fallen ceremony.
"The fallen." our mayor Keldan spoke, waving out his hand towards my limp body. His white rob dragged on the dirty floor as he walked with propose around the cheering crowd. He held a smirk on his face, enjoying the attention he was receiving greatly. "She has been chosen to save her family and her towns life by sacrificing herself."
I felt like rolling my eyes. He made it sound like I had a choice. "Let the ceremony begin!" He brought his hands over his head, moving out of the way of the happy crowd, all expecting a show.
My breathing started to get ragged, and I couldn't stop my raping heart beat. I was scared, I was so scared. I felt like I had no purpose, like my whole life was a fraud and used for entertainment to others just to satisfy their fear and anxiety.
I don't blame them, I don't blame any of them. I know if it was not me, if I was just some random stranger in the crowd, I would do the same. These people where fed lies of safety and cushion, only if they followed rules and sacrificed. That's all this small town will ever be known as.
I am a fallen, just like those before me and those who will follow after me. We are ment to stop the bad sprits from cominging into the town by basiclly being a distraction. It will save everyone for months up to a year till they have to find another to follow. It will never end, I know it.
"Drop her!" The mayor finally exclaimed. The wood holding me was pushed over into a volcano, my body falling after it. The heat increased till it was another one of my little problems. The last thing I head before I was plunged into the molten lava was "I love you", Damian's sweet voice, just like anyother cliche love story.
