I allowed the house to let you go yet again. This year, my pull is at its strongest. If I were to allow you to go, I would be destroyed and so would the house. You wouldn’t want that. You said yourself, this is starting to feel like home to you. That was the house keeping you happy. You need to stay with me. Please.” She said the last words in a whisper.

“What would happen if I stayed with you?” I cautiously said.

“Why, I would have to transform you. Into a miniature me, almost.” She announced.

“What does that mean?” I questioned.

“Well, I admit it’s a very painful ritual. I’m sure I can ease it up and make you feel better during. Now, where is the--?”

“What?!? A ritual? Are you insane? What are you?”

“Well, yes. A ritual. I’m not insane. I’m dead. Which means, I’m a ghost.”

“You’re insane. Why would I do that?”

“Because I’ve already killed everyone you care about.” She laughed, it made me want to punch her.

“Fine. How does the ritual go?” I was trying to be brave, but inside I was slowly falling apart.

“Come here, and I’ll show you.” She whispered. I inched closer, then felt her slam me into the wall. I felt her rip out my veins, and the world went blank. I recall one thing from my last human minute; death is a surprise attack.
