“Yes, we know, we are on our way,” said Running Water.
“I got a call from dad, are you okay,” Nuka concerned.
“I am fine,” said White Hawk.
Nuka could tell deep down, into his eye that he wants to know what is happening to himself, but could not escape it.
“Mom and dad are coming, to take you to the doctors,” said Nuka sitting beside his brother.
Running Water and Angel came running inside.
“Sweetheart are you alright?” asked Angel.
“Why does everybody keep saying that, I am fine,” said White Hawk.
“Can I see both of you in my office?” asked Principle Warren.
So they walked inside his office and sat down.
“Your son is showing signs,” said Principle Warren.
“Sign?” asked Angel.
“Yes, I also had the same signs growing up, he is showing signs of Schizophrenia, he see’s things we cannot see, his attitude changes, anger, violence, and threats, those are some of the signs,” said Principle Warren.
“We knew something was different but we couldn’t make it out,” said Running Water.
“Yes he needs to see a doctor quickly and get checked in before it controls him,” said Principle Warren.
“Were going right now,” said Angel.
“Come on son, were taking you to get help. Nuka call your brother tell him where were going,” said Running Water.
White Hawk got up and saw the figure again, he got angry again.
“Why, there is nothing wrong with me, I am helping our people, our warriors,” angered White Hawk.
“Son, helping our people does not mean hurting others, and that is what you’re doing, it’s not good,” said Running Water.
“Come on, dear lets go,” said Angel.
So they walked out of the school and got in the car and drove to the doctor’s office.
Chapter Seven
Back at the Lakota Sioux Shopping Center Big Ben was in a hurry at the cash register.
“Hey can you cover for me, there taking my brother to the hospital?” asked Big Ben.
“Sure go,” said the Manager.
As he was about to leave, Spotted Eagle his older brother came walking in.
“Big Ben how’s it?” asked Spotted Eagle.
“Spotted Eagle, I’m glad you’re here, we have to go now,” said Big Ben.
“Go, where, what happened?” asked Spotted Eagle.
“They’re taking White Hawk to the hospital,” said Big Ben.
“Why, what happened, what’s going on?” asked Spotted Eagle.
“Come on, I’ll tell you on the way,” said Big Ben.
They walked out and got into the pickup and drove away.
“Now, tell me what’s going on?” asked Spotted Eagle.
“White Hawk is getting bad, he’s got more attitude, more violent, especially towards Jimmy, he’s getting worse, he said he’s trying to help our people, but he’s really hurting them,” said Big Ben.
“Wow, I hope they can help,” said Spotted Eagle.
They arrived at the hospital or doctor’s office and caught up with the family and sat down in the waiting room. Finally the doctor came out and sat down next to them.
“Well he does have signs of Schizophrenic,” said the doctor.
“What should we do?” asked Running Water.
“Well we can admit him to a hospital where he can get help and on medication,” said the doctor.
“I want to know, how did he get it?” Angel asked.
“Well it runs in the family, somewhere down the line a family member past it on to the next, so Running Water carries the gene and passed it on to the child, do you know anybody in your family who has it?” asked the doctor.
“Yes, but he’s long gone, my great-great grandfather had it, we just didn’t know what it was called,” said Running Water.
“True,” said the doctor.
“We want our son to get better,” said Angel.
“I’ll sign him up today for the facility, but he will never be better, because he has to live with it for the rest of his life,” said the doctor.
They looked at each other and Angel started crying.
“It’s what has to be done, he needs it,” said Running Water.
“I know, but were sending him to a place that has crazy, psycho people in it,” said Angel.
“Angle our son needs help,” said Running Water.
“I know, I just hope were doing the right thing,” said Angel.
“We are mom, he needs this, besides when he gets better he’ll be home white us and he’ll be back to his old self,” said Nuka.
“Jimmy what are you doing here?” asked Angel still crying.
“He is my friend, he needs me more, than ever,” said Jimmy.
“Were glad you here, he will also be glad you’re here,” said Running Water.
“Hey Jimmy,” said Spotted Eagle.
“Spotted Eagle, it’s been a while,” said Jimmy.
“Yes to long,” said Spotted Eagle.
“It sure has,” said Jimmy.
So the doctor admitted White Hawk to a facility in Phoenix, Arizona where he will be treated for Schizophrenic for 10 years or until he gets better. White Hawk came out of the office and hugged everybody and went with the people that were going to take him to the facility in Arizona. White Hawk’s family watched White Hawk leave the hospital. White Hawks family is doing the right thing. In ten years he will be back to his old self. He won’t be seeing anymore of the figure. He will be free.
“Be good son,” said Running Water.
As White Hawk was walking out the door and the doors closed behind him. He was gone, but not for long he’ll be back soon.
