Good to Her is a historical literary novel set against the backdrop of the famous New York City restaurant, Dinty Moore’s, which stood at the corner of 46th Street just off Broadway for some 50 years.
Enlivened by the irascible character of the restaurant’s real-life proprietor, James “Dinty” Moore, the novel takes readers back to the days of Prohibition and the police raids foisted on Moore’s establishment, often resulting in his compulsory appearance in court.
The novel moves forward through 1964, exploring the changing political and social life of the times, and focusing on the marriage of Nate Neumann, a successful New York City businessman, and Sallie, his much younger wife.
Having fled the confines of small-town Indiana, Sallie comes to New York with dreams of becoming an actress. She meets Nate in Dinty Moore’s. Sallie is 20 and fresh off the farm. Nate is 46 and instantly smitten. The story is brightened by appearances or references to celebrities who frequent the place such as Walter Winchell, Lauren Bacall, and Humphrey Bogart.
Sallie is prone to telling Nate how Good to Her he is. Nate wonders, Is he really?
Once more Audry Bruchenhaus and Howard Richard Deacon III cross paths, only this time Audry has returned from Africa with a soon-to-be fiancee while Rick is dealing with PTSD from the disatser in Germany.
Audry Bruchenhaus is being stalked by her Ex, Harlin Nichols, who can't get it through his stupid head that their relationship is OVER. But to top it off, Harlin believes that the reason she broke up with him in the first place is that he thinks she had an affair with Howard Richard Deacon III during her final research trip for her Master's degree. He is determined to confront 'Rick' Deacon, who is currently visiting NYU at a business conference and 'win' Audry back. However, Audry's cousin, Vincent Williams is determined to get a restraining order taken out on her Ex. And to top off that, Audry learns that the creepy goth girl, Silvia Lewis (and another of Harlin's exes) also knows Rick. They grew up together. And she has made a peculiar request...
Rachel lives in New York City, along with her best frined Lucy. They both own their own business and have a blast working next to one another. During one of their first couple of years their, tehy run into people from high school that they never would of thoght to see, Rachel finds true love, Lucy gets married, and they leanr about the importnace of life from death. But through all of this, they remain frieds. Best frineds.
