A normal life, Susan truly wondered if she’d ever have one again. A year ago she discovered the truth, that everything she believed about herself and her entire life was a lie. Up until that fateful day, she was an ordinary housewife who was raised in an orphanage, had attended Purdue University and was happily married to a Naval Officer with two children. Then she received a mysterious phone call and nothing was the same. She began to have flashbacks to events she didn’t remember and also seemed to suddenly have amazing martial arts and weapons skills. Most importantly, she discovered “the voice”, a mysterious person inside her head who began giving information and advice in stressful situations. All of this forced her to look into her past only to discover nothing about her childhood was real, at least not for her. At one time Susan Carlisle had existed. After leaving for college she was “replaced” by Sasha, a trained agent from the Soviet Union. Now Susan knew that she was originally Sasha and the Russians wanted her to start working for them again. She was barely able to keep her family safe as well as ignorant from the truth while she fought the Russians off.
A year later, things seemed to have returned to normal. Her family still doesn’t know the truth and Susan has neither heard nor seen any indication that they are still looking for her. That is until she receives a mysterious communiqué from Vladimir her old handler and her life is once again thrown into turmoil. She will quickly discover that the agents after her this time are better equipped, trained, and organized than before. It will take all of her skills, many of which she still doesn’t fully understand, to protect her secrets, keep her family safe and rescue her friends from danger. She will also gain further insight into the true nature of the voice, the mysterious mission it keeps talking about, and her past.
"Celtic Remnants" by Deborah O'Toole is a novel of enduring love and betrayal set in the political turbulence of Ireland, glamour of London and the wilds of Scotland.
Can Ava relinquish her political convictions, even for love?
A young girl is shaped by horrific events that change her life forever. After Ava's brother and parents are killed by British soldiers, she vows to avenge their deaths as she picks up the pieces of her shattered world.
Before she can move on, Ava falls in love with handsome nobleman David Lancaster, eldest son of a belted Earl. Their relationship ends dramatically when his family refuses to accept her. Afterward, Ava sets her life on a course of violent revenge in the name of political justice with her childhood friend, Tim O'Casey.
Unable to forget Ava, David hires a private investigator to look for her years later. When he finds her, Ava is hardened by more than a decade on the run and wants nothing to do with him. However, after being injured during an ambush in the English countryside, Ava and Tim go to David for help. He spirits them off to a remote Scottish hunting lodge to heal.
Momentarily safe amidst the rugged beauty, Ava begins to wonder if she can give up her deeply-felt political beliefs to build a normal life with David.
Sado island, one of remote places in Japan. In spite of that, it has a curious history and it can't escape being thrust into the spot light even today. Located in the Sea of Japan, Koreans call it East Sea, close to Korea and Russia. International intrigue played there. I grew up on the mainland right across from Sado island. Past is interesting but its excitement is not ending. We will all be thrust into our future. We have to keep our wits about or else. We will make it but its twist and turn is more than a genial surprise.
No one wants to be a spy. Circumstances create spies. For a young innocent boy, there was no choice. He was born to be a spy. This is the story of Teremum who begins life in Cairo and becomes my friend Louis in a small country town in Australia sixty years later. It is a story I have been wanting to tell for more than forty years. A story of a man who lived, and then disappeared from all memory. I felt this was unworthy of a man who had sacrificed his life for what he believed to be right. Not that he always was, but in his heart he lived a life true to his morals and an understanding of a side of life we will never know. Two world wars shaped his life as they did for many others. However Louis moved through them, between them and after them as a chameleon. Ever changing and ever re-inventing himself. He was a man of secrets. Both in his work and in his life. He was a man who had few friends, but a plethora of faceless enemies. Above all he was a human who lived an extraordinary life. A life that should not be forgotten.
