With a colonial rebellion put down, the veterans of Expeditionary Force 15 can return to Earth. But the welcome they may have expected isn’t waiting for them. Finding themselves in a world that is in some ways just as hostile as the colonial battlegrounds, the veterans must hold close to each other amongst the chaos of a peace no-one thinks will hold, combatting enemies from without and, most of all, from within.
In this much-anticipated sequel to the award-winning Virtues of War, author Bennett R. Coles sweeps the reader back into the futuristic world of the Terran Astral Force: a world where love and loyalty are painted in shades of grey, and where truth is very often the first casualty of war.
A long time ago, on the world of Thorn, war still had ahold of the citizens. Three people would soon learn how much war held on. Evelyn, a faerie, her lover Eadalla, and her brother, a commander in the faerie army. Her brother is lost in a conflict but Evelyn is sure he is still alive and takes a journey with Eadalla to find him.
Most of us come into this world with an inborn need for religion, a higher power to believe in. However, when fear and misunderstanding are the driving forces behind that desire, the result is rarely a good thing.
Eight years ago, Laura Bradford mysteriously disappeared off campus, causing quite a disturbance in the lives of Kenny Elliot and Gerald Reynolds, a journalism student with a fascination for Mesoamerican artifacts. Instead he finds his old friend murdered in a ritualistic fashion.
Elliot takes a leave of absence from his job as a Tulsa police detective and launches an unofficial investigation, which leads him into the world of an Aztec deity with an appetite for blood.
