In the last study, I concentrated on an overview of Jerusalem's significance and how the early church viewed it. In this issue, the focus is on "Jesus and the city," beginning with His birth and continuing through His death.
The center of the universe for the Jews is Jerusalem. The current geo-political battle over that city is challenging Israel's claim and seeking to universalize it. Strong powers are laying claim to its parts and seeking to divide it in order to weaken its Jewish heritage and diminish its place in history. However, the focus on this ancient city, which has been in the plan of God from the beginning, is nothing short of an end time indicator of the returning Savior.
The Bible mentions 17 judges. Four are not cited in the book of Judges (Samuel, Eli, Joel and Abijah). There are also several classifications of Judges with the Warrior Judges being Othniel, Shamgar, Deborah & Barak, Gideon and Jephthah. Regardless of how man might classify them, Judges stood in a special office delegated by God.
