“Your quite concieded aren’t you.” I said smiling lightly. I then noticed her eyes flash a color of red. I looked at her fascinated. She glared.
“I am not. I’m protecting myself.” I tilted my head watching her eyes fade from red to her original eye color of blue.
“How did you do that?” I asked. She looked at me confused.
“Your eyes.” I muttered. She nodded.
“I’m one of the...special ones. I hate that name.” She said disgustedly. I nodded.
“I see. Why do you not like the name?” I asked. She looked at me in disbelief.
“Think about the name it sounds like were in a sycho ward! Why would you take so much pride in a name thats implying that there is something mentally wrong with you? I think its rediculous.” She said angrily clenching her fists. I shrugged.
“It means your capable of doing more then regular people. It means you have great honor. It means so many things that it would take me hours just to explain it to you alone.” I said. She rolled her eyes.
“I am entitled to my own opinion. Now. We meet every morning at dawn got it? I don’t want you being a second late I have zero patience. Then we’re stuck together until 9pm after all studies and competitions are over.” She said standing up from her seat. I nodded.
“You won’t have to worry about me being late. I’ll see you tomorrow.” I said profoundly. I turned for the door, opening it quickly and stepping out. I started walking towards my dorm. I shook my head. It always mocked me how looks could be so decieving. Her outer core was stunning but once you got to the inside it made you ignore that elegance that she had in the palm of her hand. I sighed. None of us new how long these precautions would stay. I didn’t even know what stage the girl was at. I sighed. I had defended so many students and had no one to defend me. It was so depressing and disappointing. I got to my dorm. Me and my sisters dorm were bigger then others due to our mothers leader ship. I looked up at the huge dark brown doors. My sisters and I’s room had the most security. There are only 5 people in the world who have the special abilities like us 2 of those people are dead. I smiled to myself. I laid my hands against the wood and waited. The tattoo of a wolf fang under my other wrist glowed brightly. The doors then opened wide. I cracked my neck ad stepped in.
“Why were you late?” I turned to see my sister sitting in the arm chair by the fireplace. The room dark and the glow from the fire the only light. The tips of her hair glowed slightly. Her arms on each arm chair and her eyes on me. I took off my hoodie throwing it into the wad of clothing that was pouring out of my closet.
“I was busy does it really matter?” I asked irritably. She sighed.
“You have responsibilties here stop worrying about going up in stages Mason. You have so much time to get those. Your on the highest stage for students your age in Palemore. Why must you compete with these people?? Is it just to embarrass them?” She asked. I glared at her. I walked over to her clenching my fists. I stopped right in front of her.
“ I want you to listen very closely..I know my responsiblities I have been here through the hardest of times I didn’t know what was going on-”
“Exactly you should hav-” I glared at her.
“Shut.Up.” I said angrily. Her eyes got wide.
“Now I have been here for 4 days doing nothing but making sure everything had been okay. I’m not in the Lemesh security that is specifically for leaders only. And if I want to go up in stages I will. I do not need your permission. You are 14 years old. Your mature for your age and I respect that but I don’t need you treating me like a child.” I said angrily. She glared at me. Astrid breathed out forcefully. Her hands clenching the arms of the chair.
“I don’t treat you like a child and I don’t need you talking about my age.” I looked at her tilting my head. Astrid hated anyone mentioning her name. They even had to stop her from going higher in magic stages. Magic stages go through your mind and brain. It challenges it. It makes your mind mature in age and in actions. Magic ages you in itself. So 5 year olds may act like 9 year olds. Astrid being the stubborn little girl I knew couldn’t stop at just stage 5 she went higher and on and on until she got to stage 11. My mother was afraid of it clouding her childhood which it did in the end but Astrid wasn’t fondly liked by many girls her age. Only ones at the ages of at least 16-17. My mother shouldn’t even say anything about our childhoods anyway though. She’s a leader and that involves never being home except when she is severely needed to help the students and leaders of Palemore. It was only our mom and us left of the Fosters due to my fathers death after Astrid was born. Ever since then nothing was the same. My mother, sister and I used to live outside the Palemore home. We had a beautiful house that had a piano and regular things that a house should have. We lived like regular people and it..made me feel like I belonged in a way. I sighed.
“Act your age for once will you?” I asked and walked over to my door opening it.
“Are we finished?” I asked holding it open for her. She nodded and stood up.
“Be home next time.” She said angrily. I nodded.
“Just get out.” I muttered, slamming the door after her. I sighed. She called this home, I never did. It felt like a prison then a home but home came off the tongue better for my mother. I felt encaged and just...alone in the walls of Palemore. I wanted what people had not what a special one had. I wanted to have no powers I wanted to be able to go on without worrying someone would use there powers to kill the 3 hundred people that lived here. I grabbed my hoodie and slung it over my arm and quickly left my dorm, shutting my door quietly. There was only place that I could go to feel normal, where I didn’t feel so...small. I started out of the Palemore home and pushed through the brush.
