Realizing that, he then he picked me up and cradled me like a baby and carried me out of the house. I don’t know if I had imagined hearing my mother scream out my name one last time as if she had realized her lesson had gone too far but all I could think of was her and my father turning their backs to me, and now it was too late, it was said… it was done.
