One night while Cassie is away in Massachusetts with her cousins and aunts Tessa and Lori, she wakes up with a severe headache. It goes on for hours and only worsens. Eventually her family knows something is terribly wrong and rush Cassie to the hospital where they learn she is suffering a Brain Hemorage.
