I dream about the day where everything is normal again. Where I can be with my brothers and sister,mom and dad, all sitting by the table eating dinner like a year ago. But that wont happen. I saw them die. My youngest brother was first. He was only 3, then my sister,then my mom. My older brother ran away,leaving me and my dad..and the zombies. It's been like this for at least a week. I haven't slept in 3 days,and the last time I ate was when we left the shelter. "Get down here! I'll protect you while you sleep." my dad said.
"No I want to help. I dont want you to get hurt"
"Sam..sleep now!"
"okay..." I fell asleep.
"..MOM?!"
"Hey Sammy" My mom smiled.
"What...HOW?!"
"Shh we only have so much time together" I had no idea what she was talking about.
"You and your dad need to hurry. I love you, and good luck!!" She disappeared. Next my little brother joined the imaginary room I was in. "Hi sissy" He smiled. "I missed you"
"I missed you too Nathan!!" I hugged him. "How are you here right now? where's dad? Is this war over?"
"This is a dream. Dad is still protecting you. This war wont be over for quite awhile."
"..oh" I frowned. " Why didnt mom-" Nathan disappeared. "..tell me."
My older brother was next. "Hey Donn-"
"Hey Sam. not much time. Dads in trouble. WAKE UP NOW! we'll talk again later."
When I woke up I saw my dad with blood gushing out of his shoulder and on his leg. "...I'm too late.." I ran , surprised the zombies didn't get me in my sleep. I ran till I could run anymore. I climbed a tree to sleep in. I had no knowledge of surviving on my own. I had no reason to learn, until now. I tried to sleep but there is too much on my mind. Mostly my hunger. And my dream. And me being all alone. I finally fell asleep. I didn't have a dream this time. I was hoping to talk to my family again. I never got to say hi to Lizzy, or say anything much to Donnie. And I want to talk to dad. In the morning i searched for food, and things to make weapons out of. I have a bow, a couple arrows, and some throwing knives, but I'll need more.
